Healthy Living Coordinator

Position Summary Under the direction of the local Branch Director and in alignment with criteria set forth by the respective Association Cabinets, the Healthy Living Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of all Membership and Wellness programs at our small to medium branches with less than 2000 members. The coordinator will recruit, hire, train, develop, supervise, and cultivate an integrated team of Wellness Coaches, Group Exercise, Personal Trainers, Lifeguards, Wellness Coordinator, Welcome Center staff, and other support staff to deliver a remarkable member experience. Within the scope of practice and credentials, the coordinator will conduct training and certification coursework for the benefit of the Association and its employees, serve on a collaborative leadership team, and support Community Impact Campaign initiatives as directed. Essential Functions Membership Foster a culture of community with and between members and staff. Develop relationships with members through daily interaction at the Y Welcome Center. Actively promote YMCA membership throughout the community. Develop strategies for recruitment and retention of members, targeting health‑seekers, non‑member program participants, cancelled members, and community corporations. Coordinate and implement Membership Appreciation events. Monitor monthly financial reports to ensure revenue targets are met and expenses are controlled. Submit accurate and timely monthly credit card reconciliations. Attend and participate in Cabinet, Leadership, Branch Board of Managers, and Committee meetings. Develop collaborations with community organizations and coordinate Special Events. Lead Welcome Center staff to provide excellent customer service and set individual goals. Recruit members and community partners to support the Y’s Annual Gifts Campaign. Engage in member outreach events and initiatives. Oversee program areas and equipment to ensure cleanliness and safety, reporting repairs to the Facility Manager. Oversee member and community benefit events such as Lunch and Learns, Member Connections, Dance Parties, and workshops. Ensure timely and accurate membership administration services, including renewals, new member entry, terminations, payment postings, balance reports, bank deposits, and income recording. Wellness Implement and grow healthy living initiatives, including Group Exercise, Livestrong, Adult, Family, and Youth Wellness programs. Recruit, hire, train, develop, supervise, and sustain a successful Wellness and Aquatics team. Perform annual employee evaluations and provide constructive feedback. Follow HR policy and conduct regular departmental meetings. Provide support for shift or class coverage. Implement departmental policies to protect Y assets, safeguard member satisfaction, and reduce risk. Define the role of the Fitness Lead and delegate responsibilities as appropriate. Contribute to the preparation of annual Wellness budgets. Build collaborative relationships both internally and externally to advance Y interests. Maintain knowledge of current wellness trends and expand existing programs or establish new ones to meet community needs. Other Necessary Functions Supervise at least two departments, generally supervising fewer than 15 employees. Ensure proper hiring and HR practices are followed. Record and process weekly invoice transmittals and biweekly payroll. Support Annual Campaign initiatives. Plan and provide leadership for Branch events, including Healthy Kids Day, The Biggest Pool Party, Kids Triathlon, and Giving Tree. Conduct Association-wide trainings and certification courses. Maintain accurate staff certification records and avoid lapses in required certifications. Attend Cabinet, Leadership, Branch Board, and Committee meetings. Create and distribute departmental marketing materials, including social media, in alignment with brand guidelines. Maintain a flexible schedule to achieve optimal program execution. Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participants. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications A college degree and equivalent to Sr. Director level with a minimum of five years of management experience. Knowledge of program development and delivery, human resources management, financial management, facility management, and staff/volunteer coaching. Team leadership and collaboration skills. Ability to meet deadlines, maintain punctuality and confidentiality. Professional appearance and behavior. Positive attitude and commitment to the YMCA mission. Understanding of YMCA roles, values, and member/community needs. CPR and First Aid certification required within 30 days of employment. Pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines. Ability to read, interpret safety rules, procedures, and forms; write reports and correspondence; present information to groups. Mathematical skills for basic calculations and financial handling. Reasoning ability to solve practical problems. Physical Demands The physical demands of this job include frequent talking or hearing, occasional standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 100 pounds. The employee must have good close, distance, color, peripheral, depth vision and ability to adjust focus.
