Fire Truck Diesel Mechanic

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Overtime is available No rotating shifts Paid holidays (no waiting period) Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off, start earning day 1 Tool Allowance & Boot Reimbursement Work Environment: Roanoke, VA Primary work environment is an indoor service and maintenance shop, with occasional field or outdoor work as needed. Specialty work on fire trucks and ambulances Key Job Duties: Inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, brakes, suspension, and air systems performing preventative maintenance and repairs on fire trucks and ambulances Accurately documenting repairs, labor time, and parts usage Completing safety inspections and ensuring vehicles are ready for service Maintaining a clean, safe work area and following OSHA and company safety standards Assisting other technicians as needed and working as part of a team Requirements What we’re looking for: Diesel mechanic experience, preferably with heavy duty or emergency vehicles Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation Ability to pass pre-employment screening Who does well here: Mechanics who take pride in their work Team players who also work well independently People who like variety and solving problems Technicians who value clean shops and doing things the right way Work environment and physical demands This role includes standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and climbing.
