Operate in the NIS central service environment, focusing on operational engineering activities across the suite of security tools. Work with perimeter security tools including firewalls (Cloud, Physical, Virtual, WAF), proxies, IPS, and VPN. Engage in incident response and resolution, tuning and maintaining solutions, improving security posture, operational projects, and overall operational process improvement. Identify and resolve complex network security incidents, including packet capture and analysis, log review, and critical thinking. Design and implement best practices for Palo Alto administration. Analyze requirements, design, develop, implement, and test solutions. Manage stakeholder expectations and respond to business needs in a high‑pressure environment. Conduct security risk assessments for firewall rule implementations. Configure and troubleshoot Azure NSG, Load Balancer, UDR, and related services. Document perimeter security environments. Adhere to security technology operational industry standards. Collaborate within a central technology service organization and across functional and technical skill sets. Leverage facts and data to approach problems, balancing customer and enterprise perspectives. Manage multiple tasks and deliver results independently or as part of a team. Foster an inclusive and collaborative environment for stakeholders and team members. Partner with design and build engineering teams to maximise security solution capability in production. Job Requirements and Preferences Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma; 0–2 years of progressive professional roles involving information security and/or IT management; full‑time engineering expertise with Palo Alto Networks, including experience building, deploying, configuring, and managing firewalls in an enterprise‑level environment; experience in networking and firewalls. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; Palo Alto Certified – PCNSE; extensive abilities and proven record as a team member in troubleshooting and resolution of complex network security incidents, packet capture and analysis, log review, critical thinking; experience with Palo Alto administration and design/implementation of best practices; engineering problem‑solving skills (requirements analysis, design, development, implementation, testing); stakeholder management, setting expectations, responding to business needs under pressure; security risk assessment for firewall rule implementations; knowledge of Azure NSG, Load Balancer, UDR configuration and troubleshooting; documentation management for perimeter security environments; understanding of security technology operational industry standards; contribution to a central technology service organization; navigation of a matrix organization with collaboration across multiple stakeholders. Salary Range US‑based role; salary range $63,000–$121,500. Compensation within the range depends on individual skills, experience, qualifications, and location. Additional yearly discretionary bonus may be available. For roles based in Maryland, the listed salary range applies.
