History Teacher – Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy – 2026-2027 Academic Year Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy is a classical education school committed to the trivium approach (grammar, logic, rhetoric). We seek enthusiastic educators who can foster a rich knowledge base, critical thinking, and the ability to express and apply ideas effectively. Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check. Responsibilities Implement a comprehensive history curriculum that includes primary source documents, historical events, themes, and concepts. Create detailed lesson plans aligning with state standards and approved curriculum guidelines. Develop instructional materials such as presentations, worksheets, and multimedia resources. Deliver history lessons using lectures, discussions, group work, and hands-on activities. Use primary and secondary sources, historical documents, and artifacts to enrich the learning experience. Encourage critical thinking and analysis by prompting students to evaluate historical events and perspectives. Create and administer assessments (tests, quizzes, essays, projects) to measure student understanding and progress. Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments and assessments. Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress. Establish and maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning. Implement effective classroom management strategies to address behavioral issues and promote a productive learning atmosphere. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with varying levels of prior knowledge and special educational needs. Provide additional support and resources to students who may need extra help understanding historical concepts. Use engaging teaching techniques to make history relevant and interesting to students. Incorporate current events and contemporary issues to connect historical content with students’ lives. Encourage student participation through discussions, debates, and collaborative projects. Participate in professional development to stay current with historical scholarship, educational strategies, and teaching technologies. Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the development of the history curriculum. Prepare and submit necessary reports, grades, and documentation in a timely manner. Manage classroom resources and ensure proper use and maintenance. Participate in school meetings, committees, and extracurricular activities as needed. Other duties as assigned.
