Senior Specialist, Subcontracts Job ID: 37022 Location: Canoga Park, CA Schedule: 9/80 – Employees work 9 out of every 14 days, totaling 80 hours worked, with every other Friday off. Job Description The Senior Specialist, Subcontracts plans and implements procurement activities related to raw materials, goods, and services. Responsibilities include compiling and analyzing statistical data to determine the feasibility of purchasing products and establishing price objectives. The role approves and qualifies vendors, obtains quotes, examines bids, and makes awards. It follows up on all awards through completion of orders, negotiates with suppliers, and conducts feeder analysis to determine cost drivers and the lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and scheduling requirements. The Senior Specialist reviews proposals, negotiates prices, and selects suppliers, analyzes trends, maintains necessary records, prepares RFQs and bid packages, resolves damage claims, rejections, losses, returns, over‑shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes, and follows applicable anti‑corruption ethics, laws, and regulations. Essential Functions Procure critical path components and services to support organizational and manufacturing needs. Manage subcontracts for assigned suppliers and/or commodities, serving as the liaison and focal point for internal customers such as Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Program. Create and issue various types of contracts (FFP, T&M, etc.). Lead the supplier selection process, perform cost/price analysis, conduct fact‑finding, and conduct formal negotiations. Ensure compliance with delivery schedules and follow up with suppliers to adhere to delivery dates. Review and negotiate terms and conditions, including modifications and agreements such as End‑User License Agreements, and understand component specifications and requirements. Maintain documentation control in compliance with FAR regulations and company procedures and policies; perform audit of PO files and documentation of buyer peers. Participate actively in company and departmental improvement initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience; or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of related experience; or, in lieu of a degree, minimum 10 years of prior related experience. Preferred Additional Skills 4+ years of professional experience in purchasing within an MRP (ERP) driven manufacturing environment. Proven experience in procurement negotiations. Experience in a government/FAR buying environment is preferred. Contract experience, including knowledge of terms and conditions and other procurement agreement related experience. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Understanding and working knowledge of engineering documentation and product configuration. Salary and Benefits In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in the State of California is $91,500 to $170,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as the final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
