SUMMARY

To provide technical and operational support to team members to accomplish the overall food safety, quality, and regulatory objectives of the facility while participating in daily sample evaluation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to scheduling and prioritizing work tasks, training, problem solving, implementing new procedures and methods, analyzing samples, reviewing and validating data and completing reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

·       Provides technical and operational support to QA Technicians while participating in daily sample evaluation

·       Ensure QA technicians are properly trained, and their documentation is complete and accurate

·       Assist in reviewing Food Safety Management System procedures, standards and policies to ensure adherence to local, state and federal laws and codes governing Food Safety

·       Plays a key role within operations to ensure food safety and security plans are effectively implemented

·       Ensure compliance with Food Defense program and it’s components

·       Responsible for the implementation of employee training (includes management and hourly employees)

·       Assist QA Manager with compliance regarding company Internal Auditing program

·       Assist Food Safety System Supervisor & other Technical Service Supervisors as needed

·       Supports and maintains the HAACP program as a HAACP team member

·       Responsible for ensuring policy and procedure changes to the food safety system are effectively communicated as appropriate

·       Must be able to investigate food safety and quality complaints and formulate preliminary responses

·       Primary contact person for contract sanitation, pest control, and label printing companies. 

·       Member of company Recall/Recovery team

WORK ENVIRONMENT

·       Occasional exposure to subzero temperatures and 80+ degree temperatures

EXPERIENCE

·       Must have knowledge of HACCP, SQFs, GMPs, FDA and all other applicable State and local health and food safety codes and principles

·       Progressive Supervisory experience with proven leadership skills

·       Solid experience in training/developing hourly employees

·       Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

·       Knowledge of Food Defense / Safety

·       Proficiency with appropriate computer software. (Word, Excel, etc). Knowledge in SAP a plus.

·       Attention to detail is a must

·       Sensory evaluation skills are a plus

·       Must be flexible in hours to cover any shift.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or related field preferred and/or a combination of education and experience that result in a competency to perform the job. (5+ years)
