CAIR San Francisco Bay Area is hiring a Communications Coordinator who will help amplify Muslim voices and perspectives in different forms of media and raise visibility within the American Muslim community about CAIR's work and services. This role focuses on day-to-day content creation, publishing, and execution across platforms to support CAIR-SFBA's communications strategy.Title: Communications CoordinatorLocation: Based in CAIR's Santa Clara office, CAIR-CA staff currently work a hybrid schedule, with three days in-person and two days remote.Schedule Type: Full-time (non-exempt). Occasional evenings and weekends required.Requirements: Ability to travel throughout the Bay Area (vehicle and driver's license required); authorization to work in the United StatesReporting Relationships: Reports to the Communications ManagerDuties and Responsibilities:Content & Digital CommunicationsDraft and publish website content and email newsletter copy highlighting CAIR-SFBA's services, events, advocacy, and impactMaintain CAIR-SFBA's social media accounts through day-to-day content creation, scheduling, and community engagement across Instagram, Facebook, X, Threads, TikTok, BlueSky, LinkedIn, and YouTubeCreate simple but effective graphics and visual assets in Canva for social media, email, and web content, using established templates and brand guidelinesAssist in drafting and formatting press releases, media advisories, and statements, and support distribution to media listsSupport rapid-response communications by drafting and posting pre-approved messages, updating web content, and coordinating assets during breaking news or urgent advocacy momentsSupport for Systems & CampaignsSupport implementation of the communications calendar across email, social, web, and press, keeping Asana tasks and due dates up to dateCoordinate content needs across departments (legal, programs, development, policy) by gathering information, drafting initial copy, and routing materials for reviewPull basic performance metrics (e.g., social engagement, email opens/clicks, web traffic) and compile them into simple reportsBrand & QualityEnsure content reflects CAIR's voice, style, message, and branding; apply existing brand and style guidelines consistently across platformsReview, edit, and proofread communications materials for clarity, grammar, formatting, and basic fact- checkingCollaboration & General SupportParticipate in the CAIR-CA Communications Committee as needed to share resources and coordinate statewide effortsAssist with photo, video, and social coverage at events, including evenings and weekends as neededAssist with other external and internal communications duties as neededPerform other duties as assigned, dependent on organizational needs and employee skills. All CAIR staff are required to assist in general duties, such as weekly outreach and other office tasks.Required Qualifications:Two or more years of experience in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, digital media, or a related fieldExcellent written and oral communication skillsExperience managing and writing copy for social media accountsDemonstrated attention to detail and strong proofreading skillsStrong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet strict deadlinesAbility to work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentFoundational understanding of design / visual elements and how to create simple graphics in CanvaThorough knowledge of social media platforms, including Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedInBasic computer proficiency, including knowledge of MS Office, MS Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat, with a willingness to learn additional tools (e.g., Asana, Constant Contact or similar email platform, WordPress)A strong commitment to civil rights and CAIR's missionPreferred Qualifications:Experience working with Asana or another project management toolExperience using an email marketing platform (e.g., Constant Contact, Mailchimp)Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesignProficiency in basic video editing toolsExperience working in a mosque, Muslim Student Association, or other non-profit organizationsCompensation & Benefits:$31–$34 per hour, commensurate with skills and experience.100% employer-paid medical and dental insurance for employees and dependents.401(k) plan with an employer match12 vacation days, 10 sick days, and 12 holidays.To Apply: Please submit (1) a cover letter discussing your interest in the position, (2) your resume, (3) a brief writing sample, and (4) the names and contact information of three references.CAIR-CA is an equal-opportunity employer and adheres to all federal, state, and local laws prohibiting employment discrimination.
