Highway Christian Academy is seeking a caring, energetic Preschool Teacher / Early Childhood Teacher to join our growing school in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

This is a 10-month, school-year teaching position working with children ages 3-5. Unlike a traditional year-round childcare environment, this role follows the school-year calendar while giving you the opportunity to help young learners grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

What You’ll Do

As a Preschool Teacher, you’ll create a warm, engaging classroom where children feel safe, valued, challenged, and excited to learn.

You’ll:

• Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons and learning activities.
• Create opportunities for learning through play, themed centers, movement, creativity, and hands-on experiences.
• Help children develop the academic and social-emotional skills needed for kindergarten.
• Integrate Biblical principles and Christian values naturally throughout the school day.
• Establish a nurturing, well-managed classroom environment.
• Encourage curiosity, independence, kindness, responsibility, and a love of learning.
• Observe student development and communicate progress with families.
• Partner with fellow teachers, school leadership, and families to support each child’s growth.
• Participate in school activities. Professional development, and broader HCA community.

• Is a committed Christian who actively participates in a local church.
• Is comfortable incorporating a Biblical Christian worldview into daily classroom instruction.
• Has experience working with preschool-age or young children.
• Understand developmentally appropriate early-childhood practices.
• Is warm, patient, dependable, energetic, and organized.
• Communicated effectively with children, parents and colleagues.
• Enjoys creating an active, engaging classroom rather than expecting young children to spend their day sitting at desks.
• Is excited about joining a growing Christian school community.

Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED, required
• Associates/Bachelors degree, preferred
• ECE Certification, preferred
• One year teaching experience, preferred

A pastoral reference is required.
