Job Summary The Operating Room (OR) Clinical Associate assists the surgical team with direct and indirect patient care, performs tasks related to patient transport, equipment and supply preparation, sterile field maintenance, and endoscopy supply management. The role is performed under the supervision of registered peri‑operative nurses, surgical technicians, and anesthesiologists and supports operating room turnover, equipment setup, and hospital procurement workflows. Essential Functions Interact effectively with patients of all age groups and maintain patient confidentiality. Apply Standard Precautions and provide safe patient care—including hair removal, basic monitoring device placement, patient positioning, lifting, and transferring—as directed by the circulation RN, surgical technician, or anesthesiologist. Transport patients and equipment safely; move OR equipment as required. Create, maintain, and restore a sterile field; open and return sterile supplies; restock sterile and non‑sterile OR room supplies. Assist with Central Sterile Processing, OR cleaning, suction canister cleaning, and OR room turnover between cases, including disinfection, biohazard waste disposal, table reassembly, and floor preparation. Receive, breakdown, distribute, and stock specialty supplies for endoscopy suites; verify shipments and report discrepancies; track inventory and par levels; place requisitions in eBuy; communicate ordering needs; use FIFO procedures; remove expired products. Maintain assigned product locations—labeling, signage, bin sizing—and overall tidiness and cleanliness of supply areas. Serve as team equipment technician for preliminary set‑up, maintenance, and monitoring line placement. Run errands, deliver specimens and endoscopes, and relay messages as requested. Act as a preceptor for new staff and provide orientation input to the unit. Participate in process improvement activities, attend meetings, meet annual competency and retraining requirements, and pursue professional development through seminars, workshops, and conferences. Perform other duties as requested or required by leadership. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required. One year of clinical experience in a hospital with OR experience preferred. Ability to work in a sterile environment, manage supplies, and operate OR equipment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of Standard Precautions and hospital safety policies.
