The nurse will provide care for patients with vascular surgical needs. Patient diagnoses include abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysm repair, carotid endarterectomies and stents, and peripheral vascular interventions. The nurse must demonstrate competencies in arterial line management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, and central line care. Daily patient ratios range from 1:3 to 1:5, depending on acuity. The position supports adolescent and adult patients who do not require intensive care. Advanced medication infusions may include heparin, bivalrudin, amiodarone, phenylephrine, and nicardipine. The unit provides interdisciplinary support, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Travelers must float within their service line as needed. Compliance deadlines must be strictly observed throughout the contract duration.
