Assistant Director, Career Advancement - Entrepreneurship, AI, and Innovation

Job Description

UChicago Career Advancement’s programs build on the world-class UChicago liberal arts foundation to give undergraduate students a competitive edge in their professional development and recruiting in a wide range of roles. The person in this role will utilize previous experience to prepare students for professional success through employer outreach, one-on-one advising and coaching, planning and executing programs and workshops, and supporting program administration including reporting and analytics. The ideal candidate will be an adaptable, solutions-oriented individual contributor with a background in industry and a record of success in complex, fast-paced environments.

The Assistant Director will lead career initiatives for students interested in working in entrepreneurship/startups, AI, innovation, and related fields. This role will design, administer, and execute programs that expand students’ professional skills and access to career opportunities.

\n

\n

The Assistant Director will also cultivate partnerships to generate internships, research collaborations, networking events, and other immersive experiences that give students hands-on exposure to the evolving AI landscape. This role will also advise students individually and in groups providing guidance on career exploration and recruiting support. They will also maintain and build a portfolio of employers to support a pipeline of internship and full-time industry career opportunities for Colleges students.

This is a primarily in-person position based on our campus in Hyde Park in Chicago, IL.

\n

Occasional evening and weekend work is required to support student programs and events.

\n

Travel expectation is 2-3 times per year

Desired Qualifications

Education:

\n

\n
• Bachelor’s degree required
\n

\n

\n

Experience:

\n

\n
• Minimum of two years of professional experience
\n
• Professional experience in tech, business, AI, or at a startup
\n
• Experience in program design and delivery; partnership management; project management, customer relations, and/or program administration.
\n
