This role prepares event areas according to specifications, maintains cleanliness and organization throughout functions, and provides support to banquet staff and guests as needed. The Banquet Houseperson plays a critical role in ensuring all equipment, room arrangements, and service areas are properly prepared and maintained.This position operates in a fast-paced event environment requiring physical activity, attention to detail, and responsiveness to changing event needs. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors depending on event requirements, with exposure to noise, varying surfaces, and cleaning chemicals. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, teamwork, and a proactive approach to event support.Event Setup & BreakdownSet up banquet rooms and meeting spaces according to event orders and specificationsArrange tables, chairs, linens, and equipment for eventsBreak down rooms and restore spaces following event completionEnsure proper placement of centerpieces, table settings, and décor elementsRoom Preparation & MaintenanceDrape tables, set silverware, fold napkins, and prepare meeting spaces as requiredEnsure all equipment is in proper working condition and report any defectsMaintain cleanliness and organization of banquet, meeting, and conference areasFollow established cleaning schedules for all event spacesGuest Support & Service AssistanceProvide courteous and professional assistance to guests during eventsReplenish beverages, including water service, and maintain stocked meeting roomsRespond promptly to guest requests and assist with minor service needsExercise good judgment in handling guest concerns and escalate when necessaryInventory & Equipment CoordinationAnticipate equipment and supply needs based on event ordersEnsure meeting rooms are stocked with clean glassware and necessary suppliesAssist in organizing and maintaining storerooms and back-of-house areasClean and organize back halls and storage areas after eventSafety, Cleanliness & ComplianceComply with all hotel safety, fire, and health regulationsMaintain clean and hazard-free workspaces throughout eventsProperly handle cleaning chemicals and equipmentSupport adherence to company policies and operational standardsTeam Support & CommunicationAttend pre-shift meetings and remain informed of event requirementsCommunicate effectively with banquet team and managementSupport other food and beverage roles as needed to ensure successful event executionJob RequirementsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience: Prior experience in banquet setup, hospitality, or a related field preferred.Skills and AbilitiesStrong organizational and multitasking skillsAbility to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environmentGood judgment and problem-solving skills in guest service situationsStrong attention to detail in room setup and cleanliness standardsAbility to anticipate needs and proactively prepare event spacesEffective communication and teamwork skillsAbility to maintain cleanliness and organization at all timesStrong reliability and work ethicCertifications: None required.Travel required: No regular travel required.Physical requirements:Constant standing; frequent walking, pushing/pulling, and manual dexterityOccasional sitting, bending, and balancingFrequent lifting/carrying up to 70 lbs.Ability to work continuously during event setup and service periodsAbility to navigate indoor and outdoor event spaces, including uneven surfacesThis job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
