Senior Scrum Master/Program Manager

Senior Scrum Master / Program Manager Location: San Diego, Austin TX, Dallas TX, Phoenix AZ, or Charlotte NC Job Overview ACDC enables agile best practices and drives planning and execution activities that unlock the flow of value and create transparency into capacity across the organization. ACDC supports Agile product delivery by providing services to business partners and Agile Delivery Teams, managing a suite of services that includes support, delivery, implementation, and monitoring to ensure the efficient execution of key initiatives for internal customers. The Scrum Master II guides 2–3 teams through the use of Agile/Scrum practices and values for the purpose of delivering quality products and solutions. This role builds trusted relationships with teams and stakeholders (Product Managers, Solutions Managers, etc.) to ensure that the needs of all team members are met. This role supports the following ACDC service offerings: Planning & Time Management Risk & Issue Management Stakeholder Management Governance Benefits Management The Scrum Master II works closely with Product Owners, Scrum Master I, Delivery Coordinators, and Release Train Engineers, reporting directly to the Release Train Engineer. Responsibilities Ensure the team follows standard Agile processes while identifying opportunities for improvement. Facilitate team in defining Working Agreements, Definition of Ready, Definition of Done, and ensure those agreements are upheld. Facilitate Agile ceremonies: daily stand‑up, retrospectives, demos, backlog grooming/refinement, backlog sizing, and sprint planning. Use a variety of techniques to continuously optimize ceremonies and team participation and engagement. Identify and help remove impediments, escalating to the product and solutions manager, recommend resolution ways, and influence leadership to act on these recommendations. Help team inspect and adapt process through retrospectives, data/metrics tracking, and by creating a safe, trusting environment. Coach the team to higher levels of performance. Assist with internal and external communication and improve transparency by creating visible information radiators (burn‑downs, velocity charts, dashboards, demos). Provide metric reports to assist in product roadmap planning. Facilitate getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating work directly. Facilitate discussion, decision‑making, and conflict resolution. Observe team interactions and use emotional intelligence to discuss observations in a safe, trusting environment. Support product planning by participating in release planning discussions. Support execution by understanding priority and sequencing required to deliver efficiently. Guide team in commitment making and sprint completion. Hold team (Product, Development, QA, and other members) accountable for delivery commitments. Help team identify when commitments are at risk and assist with solutioning to ensure commitments are met. Be an agile subject matter expert and provide strategic influence with the product/business and other engineering organizations. Ensure the backlogs are sufficiently full at all times (minimum 3–4 sprints worth of work defined). Practice servant‑leadership and promote learning by building relationships with cross‑functional stakeholders, communicating information, and providing advice to drive efforts forward. Influence team members within assigned unit adapting to competing demands and new responsibilities. Provide feedback to others, including upward feedback to leadership and mentoring junior team members. Conduct or oversee business‑specific efforts by applying subject‑area expertise. Partner internally and externally to make effective decisions, solve complex problems, and recognize improvement opportunities. What are we looking for? Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree Minimum of 6 years of product or project development experience, or 3 years on an Agile Team or equivalent combination. Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings at multiple organization levels and knowledge of facilitation techniques. Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel). Exemplifies and promotes Agile values and principles. Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and coaching skills. Knowledge of an agile framework or method (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) or understanding of software development life cycle and traditional project management principles. Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques. Planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams. Core & Common Competencies Agile Coaching – Coaches the Agile delivery team on mindset, methodologies, and processes. Compliance – Follows defined processes to maintain product compliance, tracks issues, and informs process development. PI Planning – Carries out PI Planning processes, coaching team members on expectations and practices. Prioritization – Leads the prioritization process to ensure most important initiatives are worked on. Scrum Knowledge – Guides the team to understand and apply Agile values, seeks new facilitation methods, and supports transition from waterfall to iterative practices. Servant Leadership – Excellent listening skills, seeks feedback, influences leadership to remove impediments, and facilitates conflict resolution. Value Delivery – Uses tools to demonstrate vision and value delivery, makes rapid decisions, and extracts lessons learned. Communication – Articulates complex messages clearly and with impact to stakeholders. Customer‑centricity – Leads the organization in customer‑centric mindset and coaches colleagues to keep the customer at the center of work. Influencing – Impacts stakeholder actions, behaviors, and opinions to achieve desired outcomes and remove impediments. Knowledge of Agile Product Delivery – Ensures customers are at the center of all decisions and applies design thinking to deliver desirable, feasible, viable, and sustainable solutions. Lean‑Agile mindset – Leads the team in a Lean‑Agile mindset, coaching and guiding toward more Agile ways of thinking. Problem Management – Initiates and monitors actions to investigate and resolve problems, determines fixes, and assists with solutions and preventive measures. Stakeholder Management – Identifies communication and relationship needs, translates engagement strategies into activities, facilitates decision‑making, and distributes technical and business information.
