Job Description:
The Project Manager plays a critical role in driving successful project outcomes by partnering closely with operational leaders to bring strategic initiatives to life. This position is responsible for assembling and leading cross-functional project teams, ensuring all aspects of planning, execution, and delivery are aligned with organizational goals.
With a strong focus on collaboration and results, the Project Manager oversees project timelines, proactively identifies and mitigates risks, and effectively manages stakeholder expectations throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires expertise in project planning, resource coordination, and delivering high-impact results that support operational excellence and organizational success.

Essential Functions
Coordinates with the Program Manager to align project work, timelines, and deliverables when the project is part of a broader program
Oversees all aspects of Project Life Cycle, including initiating, planning, executing & delivering, and closing activities, applying a structured, end-to-end project management approach across all phases of the project to support project success.
Engage stakeholders, facilitate communication, and manage expectations to ensure alignment and support for project success
Develops and rigorously manages comprehensive project plans including defined scope, objectives, schedule, milestones, deliverables, risks and issues. Utilizes structured project management artifacts (e.g., project charter, work breakdown structure, timelines, risk and issue tracking tools) to ensure alignment, visibility, and effective execution.
Creates, maintains, and leverages project management documentation and artifacts appropriate to each phase of the project lifecycle, including project charters, kick-off materials, stakeholder registers, work breakdown structures, communication plans, RAID logs (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies), action and change logs, timelines, lessons learned, and project closeout documentation
Tracks progress, provide regular status updates, and communicate key risks, decisions, and outcomes to stakeholders using consistent reporting practices and tools.
Validates financial forecasts and expected benefits and reconciles resources and other project expenses, tracking actual value to expected results.
Leads formal project closeout activities, including validation of deliverables, stakeholder alignment, lessons learned capture, and project sign-off to ensure successful handoff and organizational learning.
Responsible to adhere to the Intermountain-designated governance and processes that include a structured approach applying knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to a project to meet the project's objectives.
Ensures that all projects have gone through designated governance approval and prioritization processes.
May provide project supervisory oversight of the work for one or more Associate Project Managers and/or Project Managers, keeping the caregivers' direct leader appraised of work performance.
Project Manager may be assigned to a specific service area and serve as domain-specific specialist to deliver projects that support Health System Optimization and Enterprise Shared Services priorities.
Uses critical thinking to adapt project management approaches, tools, and documentation to meet the unique needs of each project while maintaining alignment, structure, and effective control.

Qualifications
Demonstrated project management experience overseeing multiple projects simultaneously is required. 2+ years of project management experience is preferred.
Proven ability to earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute effectively with limited information.
Demonstrated leadership experience, including non-supervisory experience is preferred.
The Certified Project Management designation is preferred.
Bachelor's degree in a field such as business administration, information technology, construction management, or healthcare is preferred. The degree must be from an accredited institution and will be verified.
Prior experience working in an integrated healthcare delivery organization is preferred.
Experience with project planning, developing timelines, risk management, stakeholder management, and project delivery is highly preferred.
Demonstrated experience applying structured project management practices across the full lifecycle, including project planning, scheduling, risk and issue management, stakeholder engagement, and use of standard project management documentation and artifacts is highly preferred.
Experience using formal project management methodologies or frameworks (e.g., PMI-based approaches, structured lifecycle models) is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to create and maintain project documentation that supports alignment, decision-making, and delivery across cross-functional teams is highly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to apply standard project management practices with sound judgment across diverse and complex projects, adapting approach while maintaining disciplined execution is highly preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ongoing need for the employee to see and read information, labels, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require the employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate supplies and equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
