The Rao Lab studies how circadian clocks regulate retinal neurovascular development, function, and disease. Using the mouse eye as a model, the lab investigates how neurons and blood vessels interact during development and how this coordination is influenced by internal timing mechanisms. Their research focuses on identifying molecular targets of circadian regulation within the retinal neurovascular unit and understanding how disruption of these rhythms affect retinal health. Ultimately, the lab aims to uncover mechanisms that could be leveraged to develop novel therapies applicable to multiple tissues throughout the body. As a Research Technician on our team, you will perform laboratory techniques and procedures required for assigned experimental studies, assist with establishing and scheduling analyses, conduct tests using a range of laboratory equipment and instrumentation, and assemble experimental results for review by research staff. Read more about the Rao lab: A caregiver in this position works days from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Perform laboratory techniques procedures required for experimental studies. Perform technical lab duties as delegated by the Research Staff Supervisor related to the assigned project. Schedule and perform the various analyses needed to complete the project. Assist with establishing and scheduling of various procedures and analysis. Prepare reagents and purify chemicals using chromatography, distillation, etc. Identify, separate and quantify various substances. Conduct tests and procedures utilizing various laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Accumulate data from analyses, prepare charts, graphs, statistical tables for presentation to Research Staff Supervisor for final analysis and preparation for publication, grant proposals and applications for research funds. Potentially order laboratory supplies and equipment. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience in a research or related laboratory environment OR Associate’s Degree in a laboratory science field and one year of experience OR Bachelor’s Degree Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree Experience with handling animals Experience with Genotyping, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology, and microscopy Basic lab skills Physical Requirements: Normal physical requirements include good near visual acuity and color acuity. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Pay Range Minimum hourly: $18.88 Maximum hourly: $28.80 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education.
