Logistics Clerk – Freight & Office Support

Location: Hayward, CA 94545
Pay Rate: $24–$25 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Temporary

Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Logistics Clerk to join a busy freight and logistics team! This opportunity is ideal for someone with experience in freight forwarding, shipping and receiving, warehouse operations, or transportation who is looking to transition into an office-based position.

In this role, you will support daily logistics and sales operations by preparing freight quotations, maintaining shipment records, entering customer information, and assisting with reports and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate understands how freight operations work, is comfortable using computers, and enjoys working with customers and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process daily freight rate quotations for customers and the sales team.
• Maintain accurate shipping records, freight quotations, booking logs, and customer information.
• Assist with shipment tracking, customer orders, and general freight-related inquiries.
• Perform data entry and update customer accounts, quotations, and sales opportunities using Salesforce CRM.
• Retrieve and organize shipment, operational, and sales information using AS400.
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports involving shipment activity, revenue, and sales performance.
• Track freight bookings, customer requests, and new business information.
• Communicate with warehouse teams, operations departments, sales representatives, customers, and vendors.
• Organize spreadsheets, shipping documents, and department records.
• Assist with customer inquiries regarding freight rates, shipment information, and order status.
• Provide general administrative and clerical support to the Regional Sales Director and sales team.
• Ensure accuracy when entering information, preparing documents, and maintaining business records.

Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in freight forwarding, shipping and receiving, warehouse logistics, transportation, or cargo operations required.
• 2–3 years of recent experience in freight, logistics, or a related industry preferred.
• Basic understanding of freight shipments, shipping documents, warehouse processes, or transportation operations.
• Comfortable using computers and performing accurate data entry.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work with numbers, maintain spreadsheets, and prepare basic reports.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Comfortable communicating with customers and internal departments.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn new software and administrative procedures.
• Interest in transitioning into an office-based logistics or administrative support position.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with air freight, ocean freight, freight forwarding, or domestic transportation.
• Familiarity with freight quotations, shipment bookings, and shipping documentation.
• Experience with Salesforce CRM, AS400, or similar logistics management systems.
• Previous experience with shipment tracking, order processing, or customer service in a freight environment.
• Background in warehouse administration, shipping coordination, freight clerical work, or logistics customer support.
