Payroll Specialist

Payroll Specialist LHH Recruitment is partnering with a company near Scottsdale that is seeking an experienced Multi-State Payroll Specialist to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, values accuracy, and has experience processing payroll for a large employee population. This role is Monday-Friday fully onsite and is compensation between $60,000-$70,000 DOE. Responsibilities Process bi-weekly, multi-state payroll for 1,500+ employees with a high level of accuracy. Ensure payroll is processed timely and in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. Audit payroll data, earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefit changes before each payroll cycle. Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll inquiries. Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data integrity within the payroll system. Process garnishments, tax levies, wage assignments, and other payroll deductions. Reconcile payroll reports and assist with month-end and year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation. Partner with HR, Benefits, and Accounting to ensure accurate employee data and payroll processing. Create and analyze payroll reports using Microsoft Excel. Qualifications MUST have experience processing bi-weekly payroll for 1,500+ employees. 3+ years of recent multi-state payroll processing experience. Experience with UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) or ADP Workforce Now is highly preferred. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, sorting/filtering, lookups, and data analysis. Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and compliance requirements. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet strict payroll deadlines. Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
