Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Responsibilities

• Improve the performance and resilience of backend systems across Altruist’s product teams.
• Implement observability practices using OpenTelemetry, logging, and standard SLOs.
• Own the design and follow-up process for incident response.
• Mentor engineering teams on secure, performant, and resilient coding practices.
• Promote automated testing practices and contribute to shared infrastructure solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership, product managers, and cross-functional teams on challenging technical problems.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience building scalable backend services at a B2B financial services, fintech, or SaaS organization.
• Proficiency with Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs.
• Expertise in microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and databases including Postgres and MySQL.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• A B.A. or B.S. in a relevant field such as Computer Science or Software Engineering is preferred, while equivalent experience and understanding are valued.
• Preferred experience includes AWS cloud infrastructure, tabletop exercises, GitLab continuous integration and delivery pipelines, Terraform, Debezium, Temporal, OpenTelemetry, AI best practices with Claude, and brokerage or financial services platforms.
