Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Project Manager. NYU Langone Health is the Coordinating site for a major NIH grant to study Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 Infection (PASC) or Long COVID. This 4 year initiative aims to answer key research questions needed to advance the scientific community's understanding of Long COVID and discover effective therapeutics to address it. The Manuscript Champion serves as the operational hub for the RECOVER Representative-Led Manuscript Support Initiative. This is a unique hybrid role requiring both scientific writing excellence and patient-engagement sensitivity. The Champion will collaboratively support administrative and writing tasks, enabling Representatives to lead publications without requiring them to navigate complex institutional processes alone, and providing opportunity for cohort investigators to participate in writing committees with reduced administrative burden. The Champion will also be considered a co-first author on all Rep-Led manuscripts. Job Responsibilities Manuscript Lifecycle Management: Oversee 3-4 manuscripts annually from concept to journal submission Scientific Writing: Become familiar with each cohort protocol and the RECOVER Data Dictionary. Draft manuscripts, create figures/tables, format references, respond to reviewer comments Representative Liaison: Meet weekly with Rep first authors; translate technical findings into plain language Coordination: Interface with DRC biostatisticians, Cohort PIs, and ACC SMEs Project Management: Maintain timelines, track milestones, manage IRB protocols, and handle journal submissions Training: Develop and deliver authorship training workshops for Representatives Advocacy: Champion Rep-led proposals during Cohort CC meetings; troubleshoot barriers Human Subjects' Research - As applicable, oversee the submission of necessary documents required by the NYU Institutional Board (IRB), NYU Office of Clinical Trials and any other appropriate parties in order to obtain approval to conduct human subjects research (e.g., ensures the update and submission of necessary documents and/or forms to appropriate destination). Might prepare, audit and submit monthly enrollment statistics to the Office of Clinical Trials, and provides other information in timely manner, as necessary. Study Regulations - Aware of study regulatory status and keep an up to date copy of regulatory documents. Assists with the informed consent process and ensure that the patient/subject fully understands what is required of them throughout the study. Follows through regularly with the patient/subjects reminding them of visits and compliance. May monitor any outward effects or issues regarding patient/subject safety and report this to the Principal Investigator, Physician and Research Nurse. Data Management - Responsible for collecting and auditing patient information for the research project(s). This may include abstraction of data from the patient chart (e.g., laboratory or diagnostic test results, surgical/radiation treatments delivered, adverse drug reactions, etc); abstraction of data for publications, or data collection from outside physicians offices. Audits and manages data from and into the database. Prepares forms and reports, compiles and analyzes data, statistics, and other materials for reports. Conducts study visits, obtains and documents information within the time frame specified. Minimum Qualifications To qualify you must have a PhD in biomedical sciences, public health, epidemiology, or related field 5+ years of experience writing scientific manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals Demonstrated track record: 10+ first/senior author publications Strong project management skills and ability to juggle multiple manuscripts simultaneously Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to work with non-scientists Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems; ability to work well under pressure Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as World, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook Familiar with Internet applications. Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently Ability to work and make decisions independently Time management skills and ability to multi-task Strong understanding and knowledge base of coordination requirements associated with clinical/research trials Preferred Qualifications Experience with community-engaged research or patient-centered outcomes research (PCORI, CER etc.) Familiarity with cohort studies, longitudinal data, or electronic health records Experience mentoring early career authors or students Background in Long COVID, infectious diseases, or rehabilitation science Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. The salary range for the role is $84,577.92 - $94,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
