Job Summary:
Deliver top-tier healthcare services by utilizing radionuclides for diagnostic imaging, aiding licensed practitioners in patient diagnosis. This role involves performing nuclear medicine procedures with precision and professionalism.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Conduct nuclear medicine diagnostic tests for both inpatients and outpatients.
- Schedule all nuclear medicine procedures efficiently.
- Verify physician orders and prepare individualized dose sheets for each patient.
- Administer and inspect radioactive doses, ensuring safety and accuracy.
- Operate specialized nuclear medicine equipment such as scintillation scanners to measure radioactive isotope concentrations.
- Prepare and handle radioactive tracers with strict adherence to radiation safety protocols.
- Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures, easing anxieties and securing cooperation.
- Assist patients in proper anatomical positioning and adjust equipment accordingly.
- Maintain confidentiality and detailed records of tests, results, isotope usage, and staff dosimetry.
- Ensure cleanliness and contamination-free environments for rooms, equipment, and personnel.
- Participate actively in the Radiation Safety Committee and coordinate equipment maintenance.
- Document maintenance activities and contribute to quality assurance and improvement programs.
- Provide basic life support when necessary and pursue ongoing education to stay current.
- Adhere to all relevant policies and standards, including on-call duties to support technical needs outside regular hours.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of at least a one-year American Medical Association-approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
- Proficiency with computer systems.
Licensure and Certifications:
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) credential from the Society of Nuclear Medicine.
- State health board certification as required.
