Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Preferred 2 years of experience. Will consider 1.5 years of experience from a similar environment. First-time travelers are accepted. License: Pending license accepted. Certifications: Required certifications include TNCC, ACLS, and BLS. Must-Have: Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. RNs will have an average patient ratio of 1:6. Support will be provided from interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Travelers not meeting requirements for one site will be scheduled elsewhere. Description: This position is for a 16-bed observation unit that provides non-admitted observation level of care. The unit is separate from the main emergency department. Travelers must be available to float within their scope to meet facility needs. The daily census is approximately 120 patients with an average of 300 visits per day. The unit is staffed by emergency department RNs and providers. Emergency situations may involve acute psychosis, drug overdoses, or traumatic injuries. Essential skills include IV management, chest tube management, and interpretation of dysrhythmias. The facility is a Level I trauma center and a certified stroke center. All candidates must communicate any vacation plans prior to the start date. Travelers interested in working at the main emergency department may be considered for cross-training after completing successful contracts. Attendance policies apply, particularly for missed weekend shifts. This position requires a strong commitment to patient care and teamwork.
