Job Title: Phlebotomist Job Description

This phlebotomist role focuses on performing high-quality blood draws in a patient service center environment, with an emphasis on pediatric patients and bilingual communication in Spanish. The position suits professionals who enjoy variety in their workday and in-state travel, and who take pride in accurate specimen collection, labeling, and processing.

• Perform venipuncture using straight needles for the majority of blood draws and use butterfly needles for more difficult venous access when needed.
• Collect blood specimens from patients of all ages, including pediatric patients, following established safety and infection control protocols.
• Work in a patient service center drawing blood and providing a professional, courteous experience for all patients.
• Communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking patients and families to explain procedures, answer questions, and ensure comfort and understanding.
• Label, handle, and process blood specimens accurately to maintain specimen integrity and support reliable test results.
• Verify patient identity, confirm test orders, and document all collections with strong attention to detail and administrative accuracy.
• Follow all phlebotomy, specimen collection, and processing procedures and guidelines to ensure quality and compliance.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area within the patient service center.
• Adapt to in-state travel requirements and work in different locations as needed.
• Work scheduled hours Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and every Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

• At least 3 years of experience drawing blood in a clinical or patient service setting.
• Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques, including venipuncture with straight needles and butterfly needles for difficult draws.
• Experience working with pediatric patients and performing pediatric blood draws.
• Fluency in Spanish and the ability to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking patients; bilingual in Spanish is required.
• Strong specimen collection and blood processing skills, including proper labeling and handling.
• High level of attention to detail and administrative accuracy when documenting collections and verifying patient information.

• Experience working in a patient service center or similar outpatient collection environment.
• Ability to manage multiple patients and tasks while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to provide a positive patient experience.
• Ability to adapt to different locations and enjoy in-state travel as part of the role.

This role is based in a patient service center where the phlebotomist primarily performs blood draws and related specimen collection tasks. The position offers a change of scenery and involves in-state travel to different locations as needed. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and every Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The environment involves direct patient interaction, including pediatric patients, and requires consistent adherence to safety, cleanliness, and infection control standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brentwood, NY.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
