Energy Transition Programme Director

CONFIDENTIAL — We are conducting a confidential search for an Energy Transition Programme Director to lead large-scale decarbonisation and clean energy programmes across Italy. This is a high-impact, director-level opportunity based in Rome on a hybrid model for a senior energy leader who will drive the strategic planning, financing, and delivery of renewable energy, grid modernisation, and energy efficiency initiatives aligned with Italy's PNIEC (Piano Nazionale Integrato per l'Energia e il Clima) and EU Green Deal objectives.

In this role, you will own the end-to-end programme lifecycle for energy transition initiatives spanning solar, wind, hydrogen, energy storage, and grid infrastructure. You will lead investment origination and project finance structuring, manage relationships with government bodies, utilities, and institutional investors, and oversee regulatory compliance across ARERA frameworks and EU sustainable finance requirements (EU Taxonomy, SFDR). You will build and mentor high-performing cross-functional teams, drive stakeholder alignment across complex multi-party environments, and ensure rigorous ESG integration and climate risk analytics across the portfolio.

Nice to have

• Direct experience with Italian energy regulatory frameworks (ARERA, GSE)
• Track record in PNRR-funded energy and sustainability projects
