Clinical Research Assistant/Interviewer - French - 138207 The Department of Pediatrics is one of the largest departments within the School of Medicine, comprising approximately 171 faculty, 50 post‑doctoral fellows, and over 300 support staff. The missions of research, education, and patient care are intertwined and integral to the department’s goals. Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Research Program Manager, the Clinical Research Assistant/Interviewer coordinates and manages multi‑site prospective pregnancy registry studies. Responsibilities include protocol management, screening patients for eligibility, collecting and analyzing data, ensuring protocol compliance, reporting adverse drug reactions, and maintaining comprehensive clinical research files. The role involves recruiting and following up pregnant women who take certain medications and vaccines, as well as control pregnancies without these exposures. Fluency in English and French (preferably Canadian French) is required to recruit, interview, and follow up with monolingual French‑speaking participants, ensuring accurate communication of study information and sensitive health topics. The incumbent may promote the project at scientific meetings and distribute study materials to clinics in San Diego County and perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Theoretical knowledge of biology, microbiology, social sciences, and clinical sciences typically attained by a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be fluent in English and French, preferably Canadian French. Experience performing clinical research duties in a clinical research environment. Experience using database, word processing, and spreadsheet applications such as Velos, Access, Excel, and MS Word. Experience with laboratory procedures and interpretation of laboratory values to determine patient eligibility and potential toxicities. Experience with FDA policies regulating clinical trials. Experience in medical assessment and patient interviewing to determine toxicities related to protocol management. Experience interpreting medical charts and abstracting data from medical records. Experience with clinical trials participant or study subject recruitment. Experience coordinating study startup activities. Experience providing in‑service training to research personnel on protocols, processes, and procedures. Knowledge of x‑rays, scans, and other diagnostic procedures. Experience maintaining files and keeping records. Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize a large volume of work and meet deadlines efficiently and accurately. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills (grammatically correct written English, accurate typing) and phone etiquette. Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality. Experience completing clinical trials case report forms via hard copy and online. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with diverse groups, including professional and non‑professional staff and clients. Preferred Qualifications Certification as a Clinical Research Associate or Coordinator. Experience working with research bulk accounts. Experience with investigational drug authorization criteria. Knowledge of NIH, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Human Resource Protection Program (HRPP), IATA Shipping of Blood Specimens, and Bloodborne Pathogens. Special Conditions Employment is subject to a criminal background check. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required. Ability to work a fluctuating schedule between 7:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Pay Annual Full Pay Range: $72,203 – $116,155 (prorated if applicable).
