Temporary Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP)

Job Title: Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) Department: Human Resources (HR) – Supporting Post Retail and Transportation Reports To: Director, Organizational Effectiveness FLSA Status: Exempt Mission Support Goodwill Houston (GWH) is transforming lives by connecting people to opportunities that advance the future of work. Position Summary Provides operational support and guidance and recommends solutions to management and associates across employment relations and performance management. This includes, but is not limited to, policy interpretation, counseling, corrective actions, conflict resolution, investigations, disciplinary actions, and other associate-related matters for assigned districts and/or departments. Serves as the point of contact and expert on GWH policies, employment laws and regulations, and HR best practices to enhance the employment experience and mitigate risk. Builds and maintains an effective business partnership with GWH Leadership. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Advise management on associates’ performance management measures (coaching, counseling, career development, corrective actions, etc.). Provide day‑to‑day coaching to management and leadership on various employee relations issues. Respond to, investigate, and help resolve Team Member issues in the best interests of the Team Member and GWH. Manage complex and delicate employment relations issues, striving for conflict resolution. Receive and oversee all personnel actions and performance reviews in line with Payroll processing. Partner with Leaders to ensure alignment of the HR strategy with the overall business strategy. Analyze trends and metrics with the HR Team to develop solutions, policies, and programs. Oversee Unemployment Benefit activity for assigned area(s) and manage claims. Demonstrate, lead, and participate in positive cultural development and engagement for GWH. Provide guidance to Leadership on assessment, performance management, and career and succession planning for subordinates. Coordinate with Donated Goods Retail (DGR) and Workforce Development (WFD) for training and/or life needs for Team Members. Assist with training assessment and delivery. Maintain, distribute, and assist in changes to HR policies, procedures, and other documentation. Participate in recruitment campaigns and new hire orientation to ensure a robust candidate pipeline. Provide routine statistics, analysis, and reports as requested. Travel to work locations as required; reliable transportation necessary. Work a rotational schedule as an on‑call HR support team member. Perform other duties as directed by management to support evolving organizational needs. Ability to multitask, make quick decisions, adapt to change, and collaborate effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment. Adhere to all GWH Policies & Procedures, Loss Prevention & Safety Regulations, and GWH Guiding Principles. Maintain punctuality, professional appearance, and perform expected duties. Maintain a high level of confidentiality. Perform duties according to GWH safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping standards, and ensure walkways are clear and free of clutter. Adhere to local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Minimum Qualifications A bachelor’s degree in HR or a related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. A minimum of three (3) years of experience is preferred. Excellent computer skills (proficiency in Microsoft Office). Experience with HRIS systems is preferred. Ability to communicate and interact well with a variety of personality types. Excellent communication, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills. Strong collaborative and presentation skills. Ability to work at all levels within the organization. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship for current or future employment.
