4-H Camp Overlook Kitchen Assistant - Mountain View, NY

Overview This position serves as the Camp Kitchen Assistant for 4‑H Camp Overlook, a residential summer camp owned and operated by Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Franklin and St. Lawrence County, located in Owls Head, New York. Compensation & Schedule Full‑time exempt, Sunday through Friday. Pay range: $190–$275 per week, commensurate with experience. Responsibilities Assist the Kitchen Manager/Cook in setting up kitchen and dining room during staff training. Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks for up to 130 campers and staff, following USDA and NYS Department of Health regulations. Maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions in the Great Hall and kitchen areas. Unload and store supplies, wash dishes, sweep and mop, dispose of trash and recyclables. Assist in planning and developing camper activities and classes as appropriate. Track meals served daily and conduct initial and end‑of‑season inventory. Conduct daily equipment checks for safety, cleanliness, and repair. Assist in evaluating the current camping season and provide suggestions for the next season. Perform daily upkeep of facilities and perform other duties as assigned. Attend orientation and training, participate in staff meetings, and complete required training events. Participate in professional development planning and pursue competency increases. Collaborate in activities supporting Cornell Cooperative Extension, such as staff meetings, expense reporting, and marketing efforts. Support a safe working environment, follow health and safety policies, and communicate hazards. Qualifications Required: 16 years of age; must be willing to live at the camp for the entire session, work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Preferred: Training or experience in food service; current CPR and First Aid certification (training will be provided if necessary); ability to complete assigned tasks, work collaboratively, accept guidance and supervision; good character, integrity, adaptability; enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self‑control. #J-18808-Ljbffr Cornell University
