Job Title

To provide outpatient psychotherapy either at The Center or in the community.

Duties & Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Perform initial screening, intake and assessment, orientation, crisis intervention, counseling, screening, case management, client education, referral, treatment planning, and consultation for clients in the program.

Perform a comprehensive psychosocial assessment of assigned consumers. Treat consumers with respect. Perform in a calm and professional manner during crisis or emergency situations. Apply knowledge of Psychiatric Diagnosis (DSM IV). Perform and record mental status examination. Assess clinical emergencies, including suicide and danger to others. Collect pertinent data from appropriate collateral sources in accordance with confidentiality guidelines. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Center policy and legal requirements. Develop and present, verbally and in writing, a clear clinical formulation based on behavioral data and relevant theory while incorporating psychosocial and family issues. Use psychiatric consultation and intervention when clinically appropriate. Use knowledge to decide appropriate levels of care in order to refer to various points in the continuum of care.

Provide individual, group, and family mental health and/or substance abuse therapy. Treat consumers with respect. Perform in a calm and professional manner during crisis or emergency situations. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Center policy and legal requirements. Develop and implement a plan of care with ongoing consumer input. Apply knowledge of psychopathology and primary methodologies of psychotherapy. Apply knowledge of Psychiatric Diagnosis (DSM IV). Assess clinical emergencies, including suicide and danger to others. Develop and present, verbally and in writing, a clear clinical formulation based on behavioral data and relevant theory while incorporating psychosocial and family issues. Identify specific therapeutic interventions appropriate for specific problems. Provide brief psychotherapy if appropriate. Provide group therapy. Use psychiatric consultation and intervention when clinically appropriate. Use knowledge to decide appropriate levels of care in order to refer to various points in the continuum of care.

Collaborate with other providers, agencies, and individuals in the consumers' network of care. Maintain knowledge and familiarity of mental health and/or substance abuse and other related community agencies. Communicate with various local agencies and individuals, as well as with Center staff.

Perform record keeping in accordance with Health Information Services and other Center requirements. Complete daily activity logs. Complete initial assessment forms. Complete progress notes with appropriate format. Develop and implement a plan of care with ongoing consumer input. Complete a clear, specific, behaviorally oriented treatment plan as required with consumer signature. Complete insurance documentation as required. Complete required reports and evaluations. Follow required office procedures in a cooperative manner.

Attend trainings, case presentations and conferences. Provide feedback to staff on the content of educational programs attended. Participate in the education of other Center staff. Attend mandatory inservice trainings and other trainings required for renewal of licensure.

Maintain cooperative relationships with Center staff, consumers, community agencies and the public. Communicate with various local agencies and other departments or teams at The Center. Work in cooperation with co-workers and supervisory staff. Deal with team members regarding problems in a constructive manner. Benefit from constructive criticism.

Requirements

Master's degree in Social Work or related field and clinical experience. LICSW and/or LCDP and/or LMHC preferred. Insured auto and valid driver's license. LICSW strongly preferred.
