Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License Certifications: ACLS Must-Have: Step-Down experience Cardiac Drips experience BIPAP/CPAP/High Flow experience Sepsis Description: This position is in a 20-bed Progressive Care Unit. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 4:1. The unit is staffed with Unit Secretaries, Nurse Externs, Patient Care Techs, and Registered Nurses. The team includes a Manager and Director. Essential equipment includes ZOLL, Baxter pumps, GE telemetry monitors, and Hillrom beds. The documentation system used on the unit is Expanse. Nurses are required to work every other weekend and have holiday availability. The schedule includes two Mondays and two Fridays. Floating to other Step-Down units may be required. Experience with medications such as Diltiazem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Milrinone, and Nitro is expected. Nurses will care for patients post-cath without intervention and manage BIPAP/CPAP/High Flow. Chest tube management is also part of the role. Certification in ACLS is required. All navy blue or all white scrubs are required along with closed-toed shoes. Crocs are not permitted, and HCA/Client branded T-shirts are allowed. Nurses must attend mandatory shift huddles and perform bedside shift report for all patients. The unit has recognized awards such as the Daisy Award, Rose Award, Bee Award, and Pride Award. The staff has a mix of extensive nursing experience and eager new graduates. The unit prides itself on teamwork and accountability. There has been a 0% turnover rate for the last two years. Strong relationships with ICU and Cath Lab staff are maintained.
