Shipping and Receiving Supervisor

Shipping Department| Reports to: Carl Jones, Shipping Director Purpose The primary role of the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is to lead and coordinate all inbound and outbound shipping and receiving activities at the Louisville, KY manufacturing facility, ensuring accurate, timely, and safe movement of raw materials, packaging, and finished product while maintaining full compliance with food safety and quality standards. Scope The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor reports directly to the Shipping Director and oversees the day-to-day operations of the shipping and receiving team. This role works cross-functionally with production, quality assurance, warehouse, and procurement to ensure product flows efficiently through the facility, inventory records in NetSuite remain accurate, and all shipments meet customer and regulatory requirements. Duties & Responsibilities Shipping & Receiving Operations Supervise daily shipping and receiving operations, including scheduling, staffing, and workflow to meet production and customer delivery timelines Verify incoming raw materials, packaging, and supplies against purchase orders and bills of lading for accuracy and quality Coordinate outbound shipments of finished product, ensuring correct quantities, labeling, and documentation Oversee proper loading, unloading, and staging of trailers to maximize efficiency and prevent product damage Communicate with carriers, brokers, and customer service to resolve scheduling conflicts, shortages, or delivery issues Inventory & NetSuite Management Maintain accurate, real-time inventory records in NetSuite for all incoming and outgoing materials and finished goods Process receipts, transfers, and shipment transactions in NetSuite in accordance with established procedures Reconcile physical inventory counts against NetSuite records and investigate and resolve discrepancies Generate and review NetSuite reports to track inventory accuracy, shipment status, and warehouse performance Serve as the department's primary point of contact for NetSuite shipping and receiving transactions Team Supervision & Safety Train, coach, and supervise shipping and receiving associates, including forklift and material handling operators Enforce safe work practices, forklift certification requirements, and OSHA compliance within the shipping and receiving area Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and development to team members Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping and receiving area consistent with GMP standards Documentation & Compliance Ensure all shipping and receiving documentation, including bills of lading, packing slips, and lot traceability records, is accurate and complete Support food safety and quality audits by maintaining organized records and demonstrating compliance with SQF and GMP requirements Communicate nonconformities, product holds, or shipment discrepancies to Quality Assurance and the Shipping Director in a timely manner All other duties as assigned In the Event of an Absence Another experienced employee or the Shipping Director will assume responsibility for the essential functions of this position. Qualifications & Education Requirements High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field preferred Minimum 2-3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or logistics supervision, preferably in a food manufacturing environment Prior experience supervising a team in a fast-paced warehouse or distribution environment Familiarity with GMPs, SQF, and food safety regulations preferred Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to read, interpret, and follow written and verbal instructions, including bills of lading and shipping documents Basic math skills for inventory counts, measurements, and data recording Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification Must be 18 years or older Must be authorized to work in the United States; employment eligibility will be verified via E-Verify Working Conditions The characteristics described here represent those an employee encounters while performing essential functions of this job: Warehouse, dock, and production environments Exposure to hot and cold environments, including outdoor loading dock areas Moderate to loud noise exposure Work near moving mechanical parts, including forklifts and pallet jacks Exposure to power/electrical equipment Exposure to food allergens Physical Demands & Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those required by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
