About the RoleThe HVAC Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems throughout the manufacturing facility.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, with responsibility for maintaining large-scale HVAC equipment including rooftop package units, industrial refrigeration systems, ammonia systems, cooling towers, compressors, evaporators, and gas-fired heating systems.
The HVAC Technician will diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, complete repairs, document maintenance activities using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), and respond to emergency maintenance requests as needed. The role also supports general facility maintenance while ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), company safety standards, and operational procedures.
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated problem solver who enjoys working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where equipment reliability is essential to production success.
RequirementsRequired Qualifications- Minimum 5 years of commercial or industrial HVAC technician experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Technical training in HVAC technology
- Refrigerant Certification required
- EPA Universal Certification preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to troubleshoot HVAC electrical controls and mechanical systems
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
Hands-on experience maintaining and repairing:
- Large rooftop HVAC package units
- 30–50 ton R-22 refrigerant systems
- Industrial ammonia refrigeration systems
- Ammonia engine rooms
- Gas-fired heating systems
- Cooling towers
- Compressors
- Evaporators
- HVAC electrical controls
- Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Commercial and industrial HVAC systems
- Refrigeration systems and refrigerants
- Electrical troubleshooting
- Preventive maintenance programs
- Root cause analysis and equipment diagnostics
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret maintenance documentation and safety procedures
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Reliable attendance and dependable work history
- Willingness to work overtime, flexible schedules, and emergency call-ins when required
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment while following GMPs and company safety policies
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment
