Director, Shared Services Accounting

The Director of Accounting, Shared Service for Canon USA, Inc. reports to the Senior Director of Shared Services Accounting and leads the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing and consolidation processes. The role manages the SS Accounting Group, oversees the monthly close process across sales and non‑sales divisions, and ensures accurate transmission of financial results to the Consolidation Group. Your Impact Manage SS Accounting Department: Direct daily accounting processes, supervise staff, and provide training to ensure timely, accurate compliance with company financial policies. Monthly Close: Complete the monthly close accurately within the 1.5‑day deadline and transmit consolidated results to the Consolidations Group on time. Group Guidance & Process Improvement: Establish reporting time‑frames and requirements, and continuously drive closing process improvements across all divisions. Technical Compliance & Research: Serve as the authoritative subject‑matter expert on accounting principles and reporting rules, monitor new pronouncements, and provide GAAP guidance to departments. Financial and SOX Audits: Manage audit requests from internal and external auditors, ensure timely responses, and maintain a strong control environment. Strategic Leadership & Team Development: Direct multiple managers, set team goals aligned with long‑term strategy, manage budgets, and oversee staff development and evaluation. Qualifications & Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience; 10+ years of related experience; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required; MBA a plus. Extensive progressive experience managing a corporate accounting group, with a proven track record of handling complex processes and multiple operating systems. Experience with Oracle and/or SAP preferred; audit experience in a public accounting firm highly preferred; strong revenue recognition experience; lease accounting experience a plus.
