We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Mentor, Ohio. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting activities, and helping management understand financial performance through meaningful analysis. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in accounting practices, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively across multiple areas of the finance function.

Responsibilities:

• Lead recurring close activities by preparing journal entries, completing balance sheet reconciliations, and summarizing financial results for review.

• Evaluate general ledger activity to confirm accuracy, investigate discrepancies, and help maintain reliable accounting records.

• Examine financial patterns across expenses, revenue, and budget performance, then provide insight to management on notable changes and business impact.

• Recommend practical improvements related to spending efficiency, budget management, and tax-related considerations based on financial findings.

• Contribute to the annual budgeting cycle by assisting with forecasts, supporting schedules, and variance analysis.

• Manage prepaid balances and ensure monthly expense recognition is recorded correctly and on time.

• Review internal payment or spending requests for completeness, accuracy, and appropriate managerial authorization.

• Administer fixed asset accounting, including asset tracking, record maintenance, and company-wide depreciation calculations.

• Support vendor payment activities, including manual disbursements and electronic payments, while assisting AR and AP teammates with research and issue resolution as needed.

• Participate in annual audit preparation and help complete required compliance and reporting activities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• At least 3 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar finance role.
• Strong knowledge of core accounting principles, including journal entries, general ledger review, account reconciliations, and month-end close procedures.
• Experience performing financial and cost analysis, including budget variance review and trend evaluation.
• Familiarity with corporate tax, sales tax, and related reporting responsibilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other business accounting applications.
• Experience working with integrated manufacturing environments and accounting systems such as Sage MAS 500 is preferred.
