Director of Compliance

Anticipated pay range - $97,700 - 109,500 DOQ

Position Summary
The Director of Compliance provides leadership, oversight, and guidance to the client services division to ensure Tasks Unlimited operates in a compliant, coordinated, and well-organized manner across all service and administrative areas. This role is responsible for strengthening and maintaining an agency-wide compliance framework that supports regulatory readiness, consistent documentation practices, effective risk management, and alignment with applicable licensing, accreditation, contract, and program requirements. The Director of Compliance also provides structured project management support for cross-team initiatives, helping to improve systems, workflow consistency, accountability, and communication across client services programs. 

This position is generally scheduled during standard daytime business hours, with flexibility as operational and agency needs permit, and is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement in accordance with Tasks’ policy guidelines and the requirements of the role.

Essential Job Functions
Organizational compliance and risk management (70%)
  • Serve as the internal lead and designated Compliance Director for Tasks Unlimited’s compliance requirements across the client service portfolio, including CARF, DHS, DEED, service contract, and other regulatory requirements
  • Maintain and oversee the client service compliance calendar, audit readiness processes, and corrective action tracking; coordinate and prepare documentation for audits and monitoring reviews
  • Develop, update, and enforce organizational policies, procedures, and workflows relating to client services
  • Identify compliance risks and implement corrective actions
  • Monitor changes in applicable regulations, licensing standards, accreditation requirements, and contract obligations, and communicate needed updates to leadership and affected teams
  • Develop and maintain tools, checklists, and reporting mechanisms to support consistent compliance practices across client services programs; prepare compliance status updates, risk summaries, and recommendations for leadership review
  • Partner with program leaders to review documentation trends, identify gaps, and support timely resolution of compliance concerns
Project management (15%)
  • Provide project management leadership for client services and cross-team initiatives.
  • Lead cross-department project planning and execution, including Electronic Health Record and Client Database updates and implementations
  • Establish project tools, templates, timelines, and reporting procedures
  • Monitor progress and ensure clear accountability for deliverables
  • Facilitate project meetings, document decisions, track next steps, and follow up with responsible parties to support timely completion of initiatives
  • Support change management efforts related to new systems, workflows, compliance requirements, and process improvements.
Training and clinical support (15%)
  • Assess training needs related to compliance, documentation, client records, and service delivery workflows
  • Develop training materials, job aids, and process guides to support consistent staff understanding and implementation; t rain new staff on using current client record systems workflows, including critical compliance requirements; provide and/or facilitate access to ongoing training on relevant and required topics
  • In partnership with Human Resources, develop onboarding and ongoing training and tracking processes
  • Provide clinical guidance to teams and client service staff, as needed; consult with supervisors and staff regarding documentation standards, compliance expectations, and client service procedures
  • Oversee the MSW and clinical mental health internship program

Work Environment and Equipment
Work is performed primarily in an office setting. Regular use of standard office equipment is required, including a computer, telephone, copier, and printer. This position may also require use of internal databases and Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
Required
  1. Licensed Mental Health Professional
  2. 7–10 years compliance and/or operations experience; non-profit experience preferred
  3. Strong project management and systems skills
  4. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365
Preferred
  1. MSW degree and LICSW licensure
  2. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a regulatory or compliance position; or providing direct care services to adults in an Intensive Residential Treatment
  3. Experience with external audits and licensing standards, such as MN state statute 245I
  4. Formal or informal project management training
Knowledge Areas

  • Computers and electronics –  Knowledge of electronic equipment and computer hardware and software, including applications
  • Clerical –  Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology
  • Language –  Knowledge of the structure and content of language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
  • Safety and security –  Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures and strategies to promote effective operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions
