MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

divh2Maintenance Technician/h2pThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing general maintenance, repair and installation of various pieces of equipment within the facility according to codes and standards to provide a safe, comfortable environment for patients, staff and visitors./ppWork schedule: rotating shifts, day, evenings and weekend rotations./ppEssential job functions include:/pulliRespond to calls for maintenance assistance from patient floors and other departments./liliRedirect requests to appropriate maintenance technician or supervisor as needed./liliPerforms preventive maintenance on equipment./liliInspect, adjust, clean and/or lubricate equipment as specified by procedure./liliChange filters, belts, bulbs, and other consumable items./liliComplete PM work orders and paperwork and forward to Maintenance office./liliAssist other tradesmen or contractors assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor./liliHelp with installation and maintenance of mechanical and other equipment./liliFires boilers and control the generation of steam supply (pertains to Boiler Operator position)./liliStart, stop, adjust and regulate water and fuel flow to maintain system pressure./liliMonitoring equipment functions to ensure operations are within specified limits./liliOperate equipment according to established procedures or instructions./liliStart cooling systems and regulate chillers, pumps, drives, and cooling towers./liliControl the supply of chilled water to HVAC equipment./liliMaintain equipment logs of pressures, operating, temperatures and times./liliTrack, trend and review gauge readings and operating data./liliTest city water, boiler water, and condensate water to determine physical parameters./liliDetermine hardness PH, chemical contractions./liliMeasure, dispense, and inject chemicals into system process based on test results./liliTrack, trend and review chemical processes to control water quality within specified limits./liliIdentify and diagnose equipment malfunctions./liliSchedule and perform repairs; coordinate with hospital departments as required./liliAssist other maintenance personnel/trades with installation of equipment within the facility./liliMaintain emergency generators./liliPerform weekly/monthly maintenance, monitor temperatures, pressures, voltage, and amperage when generators are in service./liliMonitor status of electrical switch gear; identify emergencies and stand by circuits when activated./liliPerform Preventative Maintenance on small equipment and appliances./liliClean, repair, and rebuild pumps, motor assemblies, valves and other equipment as assigned./liliMaintains a clean and safe work environment in the Boiler complex./liliOther duties as assigned./li/ulpCompetency and experience required:/pulliHigh School Diploma, GED or higher level of education./liliGraduate of a trade school or equivalent OR two (2) years related work experience./liliStrong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, and sound judgment./liliStrong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience./li/ulpPreferred qualifications/experience include:/pulliDemonstrate knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, A.T.S. door hardware, casework components and various finishes./liliKnowledge in reading construction drawings and performing material take offs./liliKnowledgeable of applicable codes and regulations./liliJourneymans certificate preferred./li/ulpLicense, certification clearances:/pulliAct 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system/liliValid Drivers License (if out of state hire, the record report from applicable states driver license department is required)./li/ulpPosition type/expected hours of work:/pulliIncumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.)./liliTravel may be expected locally between System locations./li/ulpEqual employment opportunity:/ppIndependence Health and its affiliated companies are Equal Opportunity Employers.
