Job Title: Polysomnograph Technician Location: Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, 94 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ 07039 Department: Sleep Lab Requisition #: 0000193450 Status: Full-Time Shift: Day Pay Range: $36.00 - $42.00 per hour (New Jersey) Job Overview A sleep technologist works under the general supervision of the Medical Director and the Administrative Director of Pulmonary & Sleep services to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in‑center and home sleep apnea testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care and direct patient education. A sleep technologist is credentialed in sleep technology and can provide oversight of other sleep center staff. Qualifications Current New Jersey State License as a Polysomnographic Technologist and/or Respiratory Therapist At least one year experience as a sleep technologist Preferred Qualification to obtain, or possession of the CCSH (Certification in Clinical Sleep Health) Certifications and Licenses Required Registered by the ABSM, BRPT, or NBRC (Certification by the ABSM, BRPT, or NBRC does NOT satisfy this qualification.) Maintain current CPR or BLS certification Scheduling Requirements Days FT Essential Functions Collect, analyze and integrate patient information in order to identify and meet patient‑specific needs (physical/mental limitations, current emotional/physiological status regarding the testing procedure, pertinent medical/social history). Determine final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols. Review the patient's history and verify the medical order; follow sleep center protocols related to the sleep study. Follow all procedural protocols (such as Polysomnogram (PSG), Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration, etc.) to ensure collection of appropriate data. Perform routine equipment care and maintenance and inventory evaluation. Respond to sleep patients’ procedural‑related inquiries by providing appropriate education utilizing sleep center‑specific protocols. Adhere to sleep center policies and procedures. Inspect and maintain sleep study related equipment and inventory. Review and evaluate sleep studies and provide appropriate feedback to staff. Assist the medical director, clinical director and/or manager in all aspects of sleep center operations.
