Department 36402 Atrium Health Union West - Respiratory Therapy Services Job Details Type: Full time Benefits eligible: Yes Hours per week: 36 Schedule: 7p-7a, alternating weekends. Sign‑on bonus eligible. Pay Range: $30.70 - $46.05 Major Responsibilities Demonstrate knowledge of various oxygen delivery modes, equipment, and conduct therapeutic procedures to achieve adequate oxygenation. Administer therapeutic procedures, understanding purpose, benefits, and potential effects; perform diagnostic procedures as outlined in policy. Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical and non‑invasive ventilators, aware of critical care duties and therapy effects. Independently evaluate current therapies using protocols, and recommend care plans and patient education needs. Document therapy and results per hospital, department, and regulatory agency requirements; communicate information to healthcare team. Initiate, conduct, and modify respiratory care techniques in emergencies; perform and evaluate blood sampling analysis, and understand abnormal results and treatments. Work independently across patient care areas and assist coworkers as needed; proficient with electronic medical records and Respiratory Care Department interface. Follow departmental safety guidelines, complete mandatory regulatory requirements, and conduct annual proficiency evaluations of equipment and procedures. Licensure, Registration, And/or Certification Required Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) is required. Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner/Licensed Respiratory Therapist in the state of employment. Basic Life Support for healthcare providers from the American Heart Association required; advanced certification per facility/department. Education Required Graduate of an approved school of Respiratory Therapy. Associate’s degree in respiratory therapy required (or equivalent experience may be considered). BA/BS or higher preferred. Experience Required For Free‑Standing Emergency Department: 2 years critical care experience required, or 1 year critical care experience with a bachelor’s or higher in Respiratory Therapy. For other areas, new graduates with RRT credentials or experienced Respiratory Therapists with RRT credentials are eligible. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills. Effective communication and ability to establish working relationships. Problem solving, decision making, and delegation skills. Knowledge of principles of growth and development, appropriate competency for patient ages, cultural, developmental stages, and special needs. Adherence to Protected Health Information policies: limit access, share on a need‑to‑know basis, secure computerized access via user ID and password. Physical Requirements And Working Conditions Repetitive physical activity, ability to walk and stand, lift 20–50 pounds, move patients of all ages. Adequate hearing and eyesight required; exposure to odors, low lighting, crowded conditions. Preferred Job Requirements BSRT preferred.
