General Emergency Department skill set
Cardiac rhythm interpretation
Experience with critical care drips
Vent management
Chest tube management
Peripheral IV starts
TNK/TPA administration
Conscious sedation
Emergency Severity Index Assessments


Description:
This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department.
The facility has 44 licensed beds and is a teaching hospital.
It is not trauma designated.
Candidates must have at least two years of experience in the Emergency Department.
First-time travelers may be considered but are not preferred.


Patients typically present with conditions such as COPD, CHF, chest pain, myocardial infarction, N-STEMI, stroke, TIA, and new onset cardiac arrhythmia.
Patient ratios are approximately 1:4-5, based on acuity, with a CNA to patient ratio of 1:10.


Required skills include a comprehensive understanding of general Emergency Department practices and procedures.
Support within the department is provided by nursing assistants and charge nurses, who may have patient assignments.
Ancillary teams such as IV/VAT and respiratory therapists are available 24/7, and hospitalists and emergency department physicians are present at all times.
Bedside and central tele monitoring is in place.


Travelers will be required to float to various facilities as needed, based on regional demands, and travel time will be compensated if floating occurs mid-shift.
Scheduling includes a weekend rotation every other weekend, with no on-call requirements.
Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays and can request up to 6 days off, excluding holidays.
If unable to meet contracted hours, time must be added to the end of the contract.
