SUMMARY OF JOB
Plans/directs/supervises assigned industrial maintenance staff. Determines
resource requirements for job and assists in Capital Equipment Replacement
planning. Establish regular and extended shutdown schedules. Prepares shutdown
time lines with input from crews. Schedule/conduct all pre-shutdown meetings.
Prepares one (1) through five (5) year maintenance plan for respective areas.
Maintains records, logs, and prepares reports for Physical Asset Management
Review Committee. Associate's degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology plus
five (5) or more years of experience with two (2) years experience in hands-on
planning. Trade certificate may be required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned or scheduled.
* Takes active role in developing employees by establishing individual employee
goals and objectives. Assures appropriate resources are available to obtain
established goals and objectives.
* Makes recommendations to management on appointments and promotions
within assigned area. * Assures employee evaluations are complete and accurate and meet all
requirements. * Assists in Capital Equipment Replacement Analysis. * Utilizes predictive maintenance data to plan timely repairs to equipment. * Regularly communicates with Operations Superintendent on future planning and
scheduling. * Determines resource requirements by establishing the required crew size and
resources necessary for the completion of the task, estimating and/or applying
available benchmarks and determining the need for extra travel or preparation
for completion of the task.
* Establish regular and extended shutdown schedules. * Prepares shutdown time lines with input from crews. * Prepares one (1) through five (5) year maintenance plan for respective areas. * Schedule and conduct all pre-shutdown meetings. * Maintains records, logs, and prepares reports for Physical Asset Management
Review Committee.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises assigned employees in accordance with the organization's policies and
applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training
employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance;
rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving
problems.

maintenance instructions, maps and procedure manuals.
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished
in writing, oral or diagram form. * Ability to write reports, correspondences and procedure manuals in a clear
concise manner. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers,
employees, other Water Authority departments and the general public. * Ability to work alone or in a team environment.
* Must possess and maintain a good work ethic concerning attendance,
punctuality, positive attitude, meeting deadlines, being a team player and
encouraging teamwork among employees. * Sound understanding of the plant process. * Basic computer knowledge of scheduling, maintenance planning, spreadsheet
and word processing applications. * Understanding of accounting, budget and purchasing systems. * Good mechanical and electrical understanding.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Industrial
Maintenance Technology plus five (5) or more years of experience with two (2)
years experience in hands-on planning or equivalent combination of education and
experience.
CERTIFICATE, LICENSE, REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
* Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license or have the ability to obtain one
within 60 days of employment date. No more than six (6) demerit points on
driving record if required to drive Water Authority vehicles. * Trade certificate may be required.

* Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus. If
corrective lenses are noted on driver's license, the lenses must be worn when
operating Authority vehicles. * Repetitive movement using equipment is involved.
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to
stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, climb (ladders/stairs), balance or crawl.
* Employee must be able to stand for an extended amount of time at the jobsite. * Employee must be physically able to walk several miles during the day.
* Employee must be physically able to regularly reach overhead. * Employee must regularly push/pull up to 30 pounds.
* Employee must regularly lift, carry and/or move up to 30 pounds and
occasionally 50 pounds. Assistance is required on weight amounts above those
listed. Failure to do so could result in injury and denied Worker's Compensation
benefits.
