Grounds Supervisor I - (Harnett CI)

Position Title Agency Adult Correction Division COO - OPS - Institutions Operations – Grounds Supervisor I (S) Position Number: 60065555 – Grade: NC05 Description of Work Completing work assignments received from the MMS work order system and the Maintenance/Construction Supervisor. Mowing, edging, removing leaves, trash, and snow, and trimming trees and shrubs as required. Applying pesticides and selecting plants and trees that are adaptable to the local climate. Sketching landscape plans for undeveloped areas, locating plants, trees, sidewalks, and roads. Preparing requisitions for supplies, materials, and equipment needed for the grounds department and providing cost estimates for expenditures. Ensuring grounds equipment has up-to-date service records and is cleaned regularly. Making minor mechanical repairs to equipment such as tractors, mowers, disks, and rakes. Supervising the work of skilled, semi‑skilled, and unskilled labor (including offenders) and ensuring they adhere to OSHA safety guidelines. Qualifications High school diploma or GED and three years of progressive experience in grounds upkeep, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of horticultural practices and/or techniques applicable to formal gardens and/or grounds. Experience supervising employees or offenders. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) and management preferences are not required. Salary $33,902 – $59,327 annually. Benefits and Hours Full‑time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.
