Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) registered nurse position is located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The role involves providing specialized critical care within a Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) and stepdown unit. Candidates are required to bring their nursing license on the first day. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dedicated environment focused on post-operative recovery and complex hemodynamic monitoring for adult and geriatric patients. The position requires candidates to be willing to float to other units and hospitals.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 36 hours per week, to be worked over nights shifts (12 hours each). The position is available for either 36 or 48 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse license for the State of Alabama or a compact license (No temporary licenses accepted). A minimum of 2 years of experience in an ICU setting, with specific experience in Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care preferred. Certifications required include Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS). AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is preferred if working in pediatrics.
• Preferred Qualifications: None specified beyond the required credentials.
• Additional Information: Must be willing to float to other units and hospitals. The unit operates in Meditech electronic medical records (EMR). Proper attire includes solid navy scrubs. Parking is available. The position is open for 1 to 2 nurses and is a vacant position created due to staffing needs.
• Holidays and Weekends: Mandatory holiday coverage and every other weekend schedule.
• Clinical Responsibilities: The nurse will provide patient-facing care within a designated ICU environment, focusing on post-operative recovery in adult and geriatric patients in a safe and secure setting.
