About the Role Planet is seeking a Global Supply Manager based in San Francisco, CA. The position is full‑time, hybrid, requiring on‑site presence 3 days per week. The role acts as a focal point for supplier communication, relationship building, and supply chain projects or process improvements to support Planet’s growth. Impact & Responsibilities Lead strategic procurement for suppliers, including planning, mitigating long‑lead purchase orders, and ensuring material availability for critical program timelines. Define, measure, and drive improvement on key performance metrics such as OKR fulfillment, cost reductions, and vendor management, including contract review and negotiation. Represent Supply Chain in Program Spend reviews; manage costs for assigned programs. Analyze component lifecycle status or production costs and influence engineering teams to make design updates when appropriate. Work closely with supply planners and EPMs to manage supply, expedite delivery during shortages, and own vendor relationships from start to finish. What You Bring 6+ years of experience in a production environment, delivering results to leadership. Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Experience partnering with engineering and manufacturing leads to onboard suppliers, equipment, and capabilities for scaling. Excellent communication, teamwork, and stakeholder influence skills. Strategic and tactical thinking, persistent attention to detail, and comfort working with numbers. Independent work ability, multitasking with shifting priorities, and a positive collaborative attitude. Analysis, creation, and management of complex structured BOMs and configurations. Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills with quick adoption of technical applications; familiarity with engineering drawings and specifications. What Makes You Stand Out Experience with mechanical or electrical systems, especially satellite bus systems or optical payloads. Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including GD&T and specialty processes for quoting and program management. Proficiency in ERP and procurement tools such as Netsuite and Coupa. Understanding of export/import policy, including EAR, ITAR, and HTS, and collaboration with Compliance teams to manage export requests and technology control plans.
