Join Our Renowned Gastroenterology Team as an Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology Locum Physician

What You Will Do:

• Deliver comprehensive Gastroenterology services including EGD, colonoscopy, pH studies, manometry, sigmoidoscopy, PEG/PEJ tube placement, ERCP/EUS (preferred), Capsule Endoscopy, and Propofol sedation.
• Manage a busy schedule with an average of 12 patients daily in a state-of-the-art facility featuring 4 procedure rooms/endoscopy suites.
• Perform full block coverage on scheduled dates, including orientation, weekday procedures, overnight call, and weekend call shifts.
• Lead all charting and work independently, reviewing pathology results, communicating with nursing staff, and providing follow-up recommendations without assistance.
• Utilize advanced systems such as Cerner, gGastro, and Athena to ensure efficient documentation and care coordination.

Required Skills:

• Current MI medical licensure and unrestricted medical license.
• Proven expertise in Gastroenterology procedures, especially ERCP and EUS.
• Proficiency with electronic health records (Cerner, gGastro, Athena).
• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle full procedural and documentation responsibilities independently.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with nursing staff and patients.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience with hydrogen breath testing and capsule endoscopy.
• Familiarity with hospital procedures and workflow management.
• Previous locum or provisional hospitalist experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine with subspecialty training in Gastroenterology.
• At least 3 years of relevant clinical experience, including procedural expertise.
• Prior experience working in hospital settings with high patient volumes.

Other Requirements:

• Immediate credentialing and billing enrollment upon offer acceptance.
• Ability to start as soon as credentialing is completed (start date varies).
• Availability for full block coverage on specified dates in June and December.
• Responsible for obtaining and maintaining all required certifications, background checks, drug screens, and onboarding documentation.
• Will perform procedures in Olympus-equipped facilities with necessary anesthesia support.
