Job OverviewFairview is hiring a ECMO Specialist to join our team at our University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. We’re offering a $12,000 sign-on bonus!The ECMO Specialist is responsible for all aspects of ECMO and mechanical circulatory support, including assembling, priming, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting ECMO equipment and circuits throughout the duration of patient support. Working in close partnership with bedside nurses and internally credentialed ECMO providers, the ECMO Specialist ensures optimal oxygenation, perfusion, acid-base balance, and hemodynamic stability in accordance with ordered parameters.This role requires expert-level clinical judgment, strong technical skills, and the ability to anticipate and manage emergent situations while adhering to established policies and procedures. The ECMO Specialist also supports quality improvement initiatives by collecting and reviewing internal and external data to benchmark performance and promote best practices.Schedule: This position will be working 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). Every third weekend required, 12-hour nights, 2 call shifts per 6-week schedule Shift differential incentives:$4.00/hr for nights$2.00/hr for weekendsApply today to join our 34,000+ employees and 5,000+ system providers working to build lasting relationships with the people we serve: our patients, our communities, and each other.As a ECMO Specialist, you will be responsible for:Providing Mechanical Circulatory and Extracorporeal Life Support to patients of all ages Practicing at the level of an expert practitioner in nursing or respiratory care Assembling, monitoring, and conducting assessment of all extracorporeal life support equipment, circuitry, and adjunct therapies used (ie: ultrafiltration, continues A-V hemodialysis, etc.) Participating in the evaluation of new equipment and implementation of new technology Mentoring and participating in the training of new ECMO Specialists and ECMO trained nurses Collaborating with the physician and healthcare team in the delivery of patient care Communicating effectively with all health care team members Providing excellent customer service by listening and understanding customer needs Required Qualifications:Education Nurse Track: Bachelor’s in Nursing (BSN) OR Respiratory Therapist Track: Graduate from a CoARC or JCRTE approved program in Respiratory Therapy and a Bachelor’s Degree.
