Morning News Anchor/Reporter (Regular Full‑Time) WTTG/WDCA – FOX 5 DC/FOX 5 Plus in the Washington, DC market. The role is a high‑impact dual‑role position requiring an agile and creative journalist to anchor and report for our morning news team. Responsibilities Anchor multiple newscast blocks, delivering an engaging, high‑energy performance while anchoring and reporting segments. Investigate, write, and report compelling stories and features across multiple media platforms under tight deadlines. Provide live performance and ad‑libbing, excelling in unscripted moments, extended coverage of breaking news, and spontaneous interviews with newsmakers. Develop and maintain strong source networks to generate original, attention‑grabbing content. Engage audiences across digital and social media channels, driving conversations and viewership back to the station. Collaborate with producers, editors, and photographers to deliver captivating, accurate news that connects with viewers and drives ratings. Qualifications 3–5 years of on‑air anchoring and reporting experience in a top 20 major market or comparable market scale. Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field. Superior news judgment and current understanding of local, national, and world events. Demonstrated expertise with modern newsroom computer systems, live technology, and non‑linear editing tools. Track record of using digital platforms (social media, website, streaming) for news‑breaking, community building, and brand elevation. Proven ability to work accurately, efficiently, and calmly under extreme pressure and fluid deadlines. Consistently displays a positive, supportive, and professional demeanor that contributes to newsroom culture. Additional Details The position is primarily a morning shift but requires flexibility for evenings, weekends, holidays, and breaking news coverage in a 24/7 news operation. Candidates must submit a reel of recent on‑air work demonstrating anchoring, reporting, and live breaking news abilities. Union: Candidates will be required to join the SAG‑AFTRA Washington‑Mid Atlantic Local union for the on‑air news unit.
