Duties Description The New York State Department of Financial Services seeks to build an equitable, transparent, and resilient financial system that benefits individuals and supports business. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:• Collaborates directly with customers to support and deliver complex analytical projects;• Performs detailed analysis and interpretation of data;• Reviews data sources and evaluates reports prepared by staff to ensure accuracy and completeness;• Oversees the development of informational materials and documentation related to analytics solutions;• Evaluates current and proposed systems and processes, recommending improvements as needed;• Supervises and provides guidance to a team of Data Analysts;• Partners with the data warehouse team to ensure accurate data mapping that meets customer reporting requirements;• Works with the Data Architect to develop strategies and direction aligned with the division’s strategic plan;• Coordinates with the Data Governance team to maintain accuracy, consistency, and standardization across datasets; and • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Appointment Method:Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications listed below in order to be eligible for appointment.Non-Competitive: One year of permanent service as a Data Analyst 2 Or nine years of experience* in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools, of which two years must have been at a supervisory level.*Substitution: Associate degree may substitute for two years of specialized experience; bachelor's degree may substitute for four years of specialized experience; master's degree may substitute for five years of specialized experience; J.D. may substitute for six years of specialized experience; Ph.D. may substitute for seven years of specialized experience.

Additional Comments Please note that a change in negotiating unit may affect your salary, insurance and other benefits.Salary: The starting salary for this position is $106,898 with periodic increases up to $131,665Positions located within the New York City metropolitan area, as well as Suffolk, Nassau, Rockland, and Westchester Counties, are also eligible to receive an additional $4,000 annual downstate adjustment.Appointment Status: Permanent
