Join a skilled manufacturing team as a Die Assembler, where you will assemble, disassemble, and maintain stamping dies, fixtures, and tooling components that support high-volume production operations. You will work from engineering drawings and specifications, use precision measuring instruments, and collaborate closely with toolmakers, engineers, and production teams to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable tooling performance.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, disassemble, and reassemble stamping dies, fixtures, and tooling components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Inspect die components for wear, damage, or defects and perform necessary repairs or replacements to restore proper function.
• Troubleshoot tooling issues to minimize downtime and support optimal production performance.
• Work closely with toolmakers, engineers, and production personnel to support continuous improvement efforts in tooling and production processes.
• Perform preventative maintenance on dies and related equipment to extend tool life and reduce unplanned outages.
• Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, modifications, and assembly processes in accordance with internal procedures.
• Utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators to verify dimensional accuracy.
• Read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings to ensure correct assembly and setup.
• Support high-volume stamping operations by ensuring progressive dies are properly assembled, maintained, and ready for production.
• Use basic machining knowledge, such as milling, grinding, or CNC exposure, to assist with die repair and adjustments when needed.
• Follow lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Use maintenance tracking systems or ERP software to log work performed and track tooling status.
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Work effectively within a team environment, following instructions and supporting colleagues to achieve production goals.

Essential Skills

• 1–3 years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, or tooling (die experience preferred but not required).
• Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints or mechanical drawings.
• Comfort using hand tools and basic measuring tools such as calipers and tape measures.
• Mechanical aptitude and strong willingness to learn new tools and processes.
• Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience with progressive dies and high-volume stamping operations.
• Basic machining knowledge, including exposure to milling, grinding, or CNC processes.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
• Experience using maintenance tracking systems or ERP software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Direct experience with die assembly, tool and die work, or metal stamping.
• Experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and indicators.
• Exposure to preventative maintenance or equipment repair activities.
• Basic machining or general shop experience.
• Familiarity with manufacturing environments and production workflows.
• Technical training or coursework such as trade school, apprenticeship, or similar programs.
• Experience in die repair or die maintenance.

Work Environment

This role is based on a manufacturing and production floor with regular exposure to noise, machinery, and metal materials. You will work a 1st shift schedule of either 6:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. or 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The position requires the consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to established safety procedures. You will work around stamping presses, tooling, and related equipment in a hands-on environment that values organization, cleanliness, and safe work practices.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rolling Meadows, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr.
