Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite – No Remote Work

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Field Operations Specialist to support IT infrastructure and technology rooms across multiple locations in New York City. The specialist will be responsible for managing and maintaining MDF, IDF, and data center environments , ensuring equipment reliability, proper organization, connectivity, inventory accuracy, and operational readiness.

The role requires hands-on experience with IT infrastructure equipment, hardware installation and replacement, network patching, power systems, vendor coordination, and field-based troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

• Validate daily operations of equipment installed in IT operations rooms across assigned locations.
• Install, connect, and configure UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) and PDU (Power Distribution Unit) equipment.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory of hardware and infrastructure equipment.
• Keep IT technology rooms clean, organized, and compliant with operational standards.
• Coordinate with vendors for equipment deliveries, replacements, repairs, and related activities.
• Work with infrastructure and technical teams to identify and resolve issues affecting IT equipment.
• Perform hardware replacements for failed components, including hard drives, power supplies, and RMA equipment.
• Rack and stack servers, switches, routers, hardware appliances, wireless access points, and other infrastructure equipment.
• Commission UPS, PDU, and environmental monitoring equipment, including cooling and humidity monitoring systems.
• Perform network patching by connecting patch cords to switches, routers, data-circuit equipment, servers, and hardware appliances.
• Support circuit cutovers in coordination with network and telecommunications teams.
• Unrack and remove retired hardware as part of technology refresh projects.
• Follow established hardware decommissioning, asset management, and disposal procedures.
• Coordinate field activities with infrastructure, network, telecommunications, asset management, and vendor teams.
• Maintain documentation related to equipment, installations, replacements, and technology room activities.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in IT field operations or a related infrastructure support role preferred.
• Hands-on experience managing MDF and IDF technology rooms .
• Experience working with IT infrastructure and data center environments.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Project, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams, PPM, and SharePoint .
• Working knowledge of:

• Ability and willingness to travel between multiple sites throughout the five boroughs of New York City as required.
• Flexibility to support locations operating on a 24x7x365 basis , including secured or restricted-access facilities.

Work Environment

This is a 100% onsite field operations position requiring regular travel between multiple IT facilities and technology rooms. The role may require work at locations with varying operational schedules, including facilities requiring 24x7x365 support.
