We are hiring a Senior Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer to join an IT Application Development team in Columbus, Ohio. This is a hands-on build-from-the-ground-up role. You will design, stand up, and run new Marketing Cloud Engagement capabilities, frameworks, and workflows where little structure exists today. You will be the technical subject matter expert for Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
This will be a Hybrid in office/remote position.
What you will do
- Design, develop, and deploy customer journeys in Marketing Cloud using Journey Builder, Automation Studio, and Content Builder
- Lead end-to-end delivery: requirements review, solution build, testing, deployment, and post-launch monitoring
- Build personalized content with AMPscript, SSJS, HTML/CSS, and dynamic Data Extensions; design and configure data models
- Administer Marketing Cloud environments: configuration, user roles, security, subscriber model, and data governance
- Own preference centers, subscription management, and compliance (CAN-SPAM, GDPR)
- Configure surveys in Marketing Cloud, including survey journeys and integrations (Salesforce Survey, FormAssembly, or other tools), response capture, and trigger-based follow-up
- Translate marketing requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Write and maintain technical documentation for journeys, data integrations, and automations
- Mentor junior Salesforce developers on journey design and data connectivity
- Stay current with Marketing Cloud releases and apply new features in production
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on Salesforce Marketing Cloud development
- Proven work creating and optimizing journeys in Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Email Studio, and Mobile Studio
- Strong proficiency in SQL, AMPscript, SSJS, HTML, and CSS
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work in production with high-volume campaigns

- Marketing Cloud data model: Data Extensions, Send Logs, Data Views, Contact Builder
- Salesforce Data Cloud / Data 360 (unified profiles, identity resolution, segmentation, real-time activation)
- Active Salesforce certifications (Marketing Cloud Developer, Marketing Cloud Consultant, and/or Data Cloud Consultant)
- REST and SOAP APIs; Marketing Cloud Connect and other MC integrations
- Salesforce CRM or other martech tools
- Multi-cloud architecture and enterprise integrations
- Data-driven marketing, personalization, and segmentation
Nice to have
- Prior work for a state, public-sector, or large enterprise Marketing Cloud program
- Experience standing up a new MC Engagement practice with limited existing process
