Eisner Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) providing culturally competent, full life-cycle medical care, prenatal care, women's health services, dental care, behavioral health care, optometry, dermatology, case management/care coordination, supplemental services (patient benefits and enrollment, outreach), and an on-site pharmacy and lab. We are the provider of choice for more than 40,000 children, adults, and older adults in Los Angeles County each year.

The Eisner Health Director of Facilities is a hands-on, service-oriented leader responsible for ensuring Eisner Health's clinical and administrative facilities are safe, clean, functional, and well maintained. This role is highly visible across Eisner's sites and requires a leader who is comfortable being in the field, assessing facility conditions firsthand, troubleshooting issues, directing staff and vendors, and ensuring problems are resolved quickly and effectively.

Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Facilities leads environmental services, security, emergency operations, and facilities management. The ideal candidate brings strong practical knowledge of building operations and maintenance, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire/life safety, preventative maintenance, repairs, and general facility upkeep. This individual will build strong relationships with frontline staff and site leaders and create a responsive, service-oriented facilities function. This leader will bring a high level of professionalism, service orientation, and operational excellence to Eisner's facilities, ensuring that every space reflects the dignity of those we serve.

This is an in-person, field-based position requiring regular travel between Eisner Health locations throughout the Los Angeles area. Spanish fluency is strongly preferred.

Core Job Responsibilities

• Facilities Operations & Oversight
• Provide hands-on leadership of day-to-day facilities operations across all Eisner Health locations, ensuring facilities are consistently clean, safe, functional, and welcoming for patients and staff.
• Maintain a regular onsite presence across locations, conducting facility walkthroughs, identifying issues firsthand, and ensuring repairs, maintenance needs, and staff concerns are addressed promptly.
• Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, fire/life safety, access control, and other facility infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot facility issues as they arise, assess the appropriate response, and coordinate internal staff or outside vendors to ensure timely resolution.
• Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules and ensure required work is completed consistently across all sites.
• Oversee routine repairs, work orders, facility improvements, equipment needs, and general building upkeep from identification through completion.
• Establish clear expectations for facility cleanliness, appearance, safety, and functionality and regularly inspect sites to ensure standards are maintained.
• Serve as a responsive point of contact for site leaders and staff regarding facility needs, communicating clearly about priorities, timelines, and resolution.
• Serve as the liaison for all lease agreements and related landlord/tenant communications.
• Personnel Leadership & Team Structure
• Provide visible, hands-on leadership to facilities, environmental services, security, and emergency operations staff.
• Direct reports include the Head of Security, the Facilities Team – Downtown LA, Facilities Manager – Valley Sites, and the Environmental Services Team.
• Establish clear day-to-day priorities and expectations and regularly follow up to ensure work is completed.
• Coach staff in troubleshooting, customer service, safety, preventative maintenance, and effective facility operations.
• Build strong working relationships with a diverse workforce and communicate effectively with employees across roles and levels.
• Assess staffing, skills, and training needs and address performance gaps as needed.
• Security, Safety, & Emergency Preparedness
• Ensure all security protocols are in place and enforced.
• In collaboration with the Head of Security, develop and implement emergency preparedness training programs for staff and ensure site readiness and regulatory alignment.
• Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the FQHC Emergency Preparedness Program to ensure compliance with CMS and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Develop, update, and test emergency operations plans, policies, and procedures.
• Direct emergency readiness activities, including risk assessments, hazard vulnerability analyses, emergency operations planning, business continuity planning, training, drills, and program evaluations.
• Coordinate and manage emergency response and recovery efforts, serving as a key member of the Incident Command Team and collaborating with public health agencies, emergency management organizations, healthcare partners, and community stakeholders.
• Oversee facility safety, security, environmental compliance, regulatory inspections, and staff education to maintain a safe and resilient healthcare environment.
• Vendor & Contract Oversight
• Coordinate and oversee contractors and service vendors supporting facilities operations, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, janitorial, pest control, landscaping, and security.
• Assess when work can be addressed internally versus when outside expertise is needed and coordinate vendors accordingly.
• Monitor work onsite to ensure repairs and services are completed properly, safely, timely, and to Eisner Health standards.
• Negotiate service agreements and evaluate contractor performance to ensure all work is high-quality, on time, and within budget.
• Oversee compliance with contract terms, insurance requirements, and vendor accountability.
• Compliance, Risk & Documentation
• Ensure full compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, NFPA, Joint Commission (if applicable), and other healthcare-specific regulatory standards.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date records of inspections, permits, safety reports, and compliance documentation.
• Conduct site assessments and proactively identify and address any facilities-related risks.
• Collaboration & Organizational Presence
• Work closely with Patient Relations, Outreach, and Events to ensure facilities support patient experience and community engagement efforts.
• Be a visible leader across all sites, regularly visiting locations and building relationships with frontline staff and managers.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, preferred; significant directly relevant facilities experience may substitute for formal education.
• 7+ years of progressive facilities management experience, including experience leading day-to-day building operations and maintenance; healthcare, community health, nonprofit, or similarly complex environments strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated hands-on knowledge of building operations and systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire/life safety, preventative maintenance, repairs, and general facility upkeep.
• Experience overseeing facilities across multiple locations and regularly working onsite to assess conditions and resolve operational issues.
• Experience directly leading facilities, maintenance, environmental services, security, or similar frontline teams.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly assess facility issues, determine appropriate action, and drive problems through resolution.
• Working knowledge of OSHA/Cal-OSHA, ADA, fire/life safety, and other applicable facility and workplace safety requirements.
• Leadership experience in emergency management operations
• Experience coordinating and overseeing contractors and service vendors.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with frontline employees, site leadership, and organizational leaders.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively to urgent and unexpected facility needs.
• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred, with the ability to communicate effectively with facilities and environmental services staff as well as employees across the organization.
• Experience developing, reviewing, implementing, and maintaining organizational policies and procedures (P&Ps).

Compensation: $116,450-$157,550 annually
