Hours are based on the performing arts production and event schedule and will primarily include evenings and weekends.The House Manager oversees front-of-house operations, audience safety, and lobby logistics for performances and events. This role is responsible for creating a welcoming, accessible, and safe environment for patrons while coordinating and mentoring student volunteers serving as ushers and other front-of-house support.QualificationsOversees front-of-house operations for performing arts events and campus productionsSupervises and provides direction to student volunteers serving as ushers, ticket scanners, and program distributorsCoordinates lobby setup and ensures public areas are clean, organized, and ready to welcome patronsGreets and assists patrons, responds to questions, and professionally resolves seating or ticketing concernsUses On The Stage, Harker's ticketing system, to support ticket scanning and troubleshoot ticketing issues as neededMaintains headset communication with the stage manager to coordinate lobby countdowns, clear the house, and execute late-seating cuesServes as the primary front-of-house point of contact for emergency procedures and audience safetyEnsures exits, aisles, and pathways remain clear and assists patrons with accessibility or mobility needsConducts pre- and post-show inspections of the venue and front-of-house areasCompletes front-of-house reports documenting attendance, incidents or concerns, and student usher attendanceProvides excellent customer service and creates a positive and welcoming experience for students, families, guests, and members of the Harker communityKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExcellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to effectively supervise, motivate, and mentor student volunteersStrong customer service skills and a professional, welcoming demeanorDependable and punctual, with the ability to arrive prepared for scheduled eventsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to remain calm and professional while resolving patron, seating, or ticketing concernsAbility to communicate effectively with production staff during live performancesComfortable learning and using the On The Stage ticketing systemAbility to respond appropriately and calmly in emergency situationsScheduleThis is a part-time position with hours based on Harker's performing arts and event schedule. The posted pay range reflects the full pay scale for this position. While the maximum rate is included for transparency, most new hires can expect to fall within the lower to middle portion of the pay scale based on their qualifications and experience.
